There is also seemingly over a year's waiting list - whether this is down to demand or some sort of production issue or they're deliberately holding back supply I'm not sure.
They will also want to get them US spec, so no curved side mirrors that have objects appear larger than they appear, "Jesus take the wheel" sunvisor stickers etc etc and you normally book a ship too, To improve quality control, normally they tend to group countries or specs together for flow rate until you have depth.

Also I would mention the cost in the US, its main competitor is the Jeep, which starts at $40,000 or £32,000, a £70,000 Grenadier is US$88,000 at the moment. These are the new 4x4s for 2023 and $88,000 gets you a decent F150 or Rivian at the moment.

Old graphic: Cybertruck tri-motor is $100K . Also Grenadier Fieldmaster etc is $79K list price. (UK prices include VAT, tax, etc. US ones never do)

That's exactly what I mean-it's easy to dismiss it as all a bit "let's off road!" but it's no different to the great Lotus On Track events, RenaultSport days they used to do and (even though I haven't attended) Porsche Club track days I've heard good things about.

Not everyone wants to join a community but for those looking to get to explore their vehicles capabilities I think it all sounds great. There's a guy local to me who does Lake District Defender Tours for charity it's just a shame every one he's done since I got mine I've had something on.

I need to get booked on the Land Rover Experience that comes with the car and take it from there I think.

Land Rover in Scotland do nights under the stars at their Scottish centre.
Our club helps out with it.

Well attended and has cars of all models taking part in it.
Just had a search on the internet, looks like great fun if a little extreme if cars with sidesteps shouldn't attend-will definitely research a bit more though-thanks!

Had a double off road and on road event drive today. Tried various specs and both petrol/diesel models. Really liked it and capable as expected. Steering does have self centering if you don’t hoof it from a junction. The raised foot rest on RHD didn’t bother. It felt like it was built tough. One I tried had 15k miles and was rattle and squeak free even though it had spent most of its life off road.

Liked the diesel best. Felt like it suited the vehicle more and low down grunt better. Lot of want from me. Will I buy one. Not sure. JLR does nothing I want or desire anymore and I didn’t like the ‘23 RRS enough to keep it. The Ineos didn’t feel shouty or flash. I liked the flat green, flat blue and metallic red. Understated and just getting on with a job.

Want to try the new Landcruiser when it hits UK shores. I don’t think it will feel as special with 4cyl and Toyota doors/control weightings etc. plus not as rugged feeling inside. Will wait and see.

Shame it’s not the £50k Ineos as initially discussed.I think I will have to wait for the used market to drop into those numbers to buy one. If the LC until its spec ones are near that new, I think it might kill it off.

September 155 150

I missed this from October:

Q: "Ineos has sold 2,126 Grenadiers in Europe through August, according to Dataforce. Where do you expect sales to be for the full year and what is the outlook for your sales in Europe for 2024?"

A: "To put a little bit more context around that, we have produced 7,000 and we have about 4,000 registrations. By the end of this year, we probably will have produced about 15,000 Grenadiers. We are just ramping up our second shift at the moment, which means that with a full year of two-shift production next year we will get closer to about 30,000. That will be our global production. That will satisfy orders from Europe, North America, Africa, Australia and Asia Pacific."

I have to wonder about the reliability of the stats as my local dealer's social media feeds suggests they have put more than 1 on the road in January. Odd?

As I got mine last April, it will need another service soon.

Possibly a glitch, or maybe pre-regs? SMMT data here: https://www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data/lcv-registrati...

I spotted 3 matching white ones driving in convoy around the Aberdeen bypass yesterday. They had high vis chevron markings on the rear and some sort of small company branding which I couldn't read from the opposite carriageway but does suggest they are getting at least some commercial sales beyond the usual gamekeeper spec trucks I usually see day to day.

Intrigued to see how these depreciate - would be hard to resist if they drop to £40k with a decent proportion of the 5 year warranty remaining.

Cheapest 5 seat ones on auto trader are ~£53k so maybe in 12-18 months. If you’re fussy on spec (safari windows and diff locks for example) might be a bit longer.

On a more positive note, 2024 USA order book is apparently full.

Agree, seeing a few around now. Not seen any being worked, but those figures show LCV are doing most of the sales. I recall buying our first Defender 110 in 2011. Was a one year old XS 2.4. Test drove it and for so many reasons it wasn’t a suitable replacement for our family hack Touran. But it was different and charming and not perfect. Haven’t been without one since and used and abused them all properly. So I’m not put off when it doesn’t win a group test against an L663 Defender. It’s not targeting the same buyer. I’ve tried the 110 in various specs and engines. D300 is a cracker in as base as possible for me. But it didn’t charm/intrigue/grab me like the Grenadier.

Finance quote through Ineos puts the 3year GFV at £37k. So we will see them at least than £40k in 2024.

Seems the 23.5MY is a sweet spott. Initial build and software issues gone but they don't get the 24MY nannying speed alerts and lane keeping rubbish.

First point: I like them. I was an early viewer but they were too dear for me; dropping now, though. Second , in response to the OP: I guess the target audience is any one they can entice. Just flicked through a very glossy ‘ lifestyle’ mag with ads for private schools, up market restaurants and gastropubs, kitchens ( pale blue and green are the new grey) and impossibly lovely houses, like you see crooks living in on TV detective dramas and what used to be called gown shops ….you know the kind of publication. The Grenadier ad was fascinating: stressing versatility, it showed a high end Grenadier, with snorkel, looking immaculate in what appeared to be a market town or even cathedral city: cobbles, a bit of parkland, and another shot outside some Georgian town houses. The driver looked like a twenty- something young woman, very slim in a kind of Barbour- chic outfit, marred only by the trainers, and outside a barber’s. “

Seeing a few around Chichester - perhaps half a dozen different vehicles in the area.

That's far more common than I'd have expected.
