Worst aging cars?

I think the 370z is still good looking for this day-and-age. I think it's mainly because of the somewhat rarity of them, but coupled with the fact their styling is (IMO) very relevant.
Convertible though? Nah. They look awful on the 370.
Yes and the Coupes do look really good I agree, I really like the Nismo versions as well. Convertible though? Nah. They look awful on the 370.

ok, back on topic; here is a contentious one
Nissan 350/370z (sorry if any of you have one) I LOVED these when they were launched but now (to me IMHO) they haven't aged well - especially the convertibles.

The interior lets it down but I saw one for sale which has had the entire NAV and HVAC replaced by a tesla style screen and it looks sooooo much better.

I've always been critical of the interior in mine as well to be honest. It is screwed together well enough, but it doesn't feel particularly special though. However...I think the Cerbera really spoilt me in that regard in comparison though.
Well worth looking in to these as I really think it modernises the car by about 15 years!Mr Tidy said:
But it will make it look dated within 10 years!
That's actually a great point. All these huge screen "infotainment" systems are going to age so badly in a way analogue gauges never will. Even if they are currently being kept fresh by over the air updates you can more or less guarantee the computer and firmware will stop being supported over time.pheonix478 said:

I do wonder now that every dross box has wall to wall touch screens if high end cars will use a move back to physical controls and hybridised instruments (which cost more) as a differentiator.

I don't think it'll matter, they've reached the point where they are so responsive and high resolution that any "advancement" is pure bullst now like that ridiculous 5 series prattling drivel to Harry Metcalfe in his video. To a certain extent CarPlay and the Android equivalent have put a stop to the total obsolesence that earlier systems faced when the manufacturer stopped bothering to issue new maps too.

Yeah some very fair points but I just don't believe for one second that that 30GB "essential" 2030 dealer update/over the air update/OS update/bluetooth update/wifi update/security update/ any number of 3rd party app updates/ SIM frequency change doesn't make your 2025 infotainment system run as smoothly as a the old iPad, on my desk does. The rapid progress and obsolesence was because the things were maturing, we saw the same thing with mobile phones; while the difference between the best systems in 2000 and 2005 was huge, 2005 to 2010 was substantial, the 2015 to 2020 change was rather more incremental but the 2020 to 2024 progress is basically non existent.

Although not to everyone's taste, this hasn't aged badly after over 20 years (IMO), and I think will still look pretty good in another 20 years. That's before even considering the brilliant performance and handling, and the relatively affordable price tag. It was also the one car I had which ALWAYS seemed to put a smile on people's faces and got positive comments at petrol stations etc.. right through from when I first got it over 18 years ago, to when I sold it last year.

Apart from the door handle maybe. That looks proper 80s. If it was body colour it would hide it a bit. nb3 by conradsphotos, on Flickr

Agree and what a clever move to invent CarPlay, because (as far as I'm aware), the software itself is store and updated on the phone and not the CarPlay device, so the updates and features will continue for the life of the car or until the hardware is too old and can't handle the update.

By the time the phone would have slowed down you would have got a new one so the process would be endless, it’s one of the best things to happen to motoring in terms of making the commute easier/more bearableV 02 said:

Ah I meant the car's hardware.Unless literally everything is processed on the phone and the car hardware is just a screen.

That’s exactly how it works, in simple terms the car sends some GPS location data (optional on wired, mandatory on wireless carplay) and touch data to the phone and the phone does everything else, with the car acting just as a screen.Unless literally everything is processed on the phone and the car hardware is just a screen.
As above the 2nd version is extending it beyond a central “infotainment” screen and on to the instrument cluster.
