There have been lots of videos from the launch but thought this is one of the better ones at putting things in perspective…

Comical, it’s an electric mass made German car which has parts on it from VW and Audi!

Standard Porsche attitude to lists... They only get away with it because people pay.

I skipped to the driving bit, but I enjoyed that. That part of the video has done a better job selling me on the Macan than anything else that I've read or seen.

Indeed, especially the conclusion that it’s better than the ICE versions. Of course it would (like the rest) be better 4-600 kg less, and that will come in time. I’ll wait for the inevitable GTS and put in an order…

Going back to the comparison with Q6. The deals appeared on Arval this week:

3yrs 30k miles sline Quattro is £754 net per mth.

So around £100 per month less than the Macan and better kit as standard. Feels like the more sensible option….

I came to the same conclusion. Have a play around with your configurations though. I've ordered an Edition 1, with pearl paint, nappa leather, and panoramic roof, for on £50 a month more. This model is pretty much fully loaded.

Just seen some photos of this and I have to say it’s a good looking car. I am absolutely not a fan of any SUV, loathe them to look at in fact, but Porsche have got the looks nailed here.

Beauty is in the eye if the beholder! I find the looks quite challenging. It was one of the main reasons, along with the lack of standard equipment, that made me go with the Audi Q6.

The next few weeks/months are going to be interesting - probably in a bad way. Quite a few of the more recent car reviews in the motoring press are starting to comment on the latest European requirement for mandatory speed limiter gongs, limiters (Intelligent Speed Assist), and how damn annoying it is.
Yes, it can be deactivated via the touchscreen but it defaults to on every time you start up. It might be worth asking if the salesman has deactivated anything before he brings your shiny Macan EV (or any other vehicle for that matter) test drive vehicle around to the front of the dealership.
You wouldn't want to be buying something that'd end up doing your head in from the first day of collection.

I borrowed a new Cayenne E-Hybrid that has the new "warning" build in. You barely hear it, so I didn't even consider switching it off. I consider it to be a non-issue.

Well you won't be buying a new car then!

All new models from July 23 (might have been 22?) have this fitted as standard, no ifs, no buts.

There will come a time much like Dubai where it can't be switched off, that's going to be an interesting time!

It's July this year.

Off topic but you can see a time coming when these systems will auto-report to the authorities if you're speeding outside certain parameters or continue above the speed limit for 30 secs or so - just like many company vehicle fleet tracking systems presently do to the lucky driver's relevant supervisor. They also record and report excessive g-force in cornering and braking.

So 1984 is actually here now.
When did we get to vote on this exactly?

Enjoy cars while you can. It's all about to become very dull and micromanaged.

I have a Macan loan car from my OPC this week, has a dash cam fitted. First car I’ve driven with one. Can’t help think that in a few years time it will become a necessity for insurance, a bit like the “black box” you describe for fleet tracking systems That could spread to private drivers too. Might not be government legislation, it might be insurance companies almost force it upon us.
