(a one year-old 992 with the mirror bracket coming unstuck!).

My September 23 Dakar was delivered to me with the rearview mirror unstuck from the windscreen too! Very poor PDI.
My new gt4 came to me with no air con gas in the system!
GT4 sin gas, sin con gas

As a brand Porsche have been the worst I have ever experienced in 30+ years of dealing with cars. They keep achieving new lows to the point I refuse to have anything to do with them.

The disaster of a 12 year service on the 911 (the 6 year service was also bad) has just destroyed my view of the brand and really can't be bothered with it or the car. It did 342 miles between MOTs last year but over 2200 miles the year before.

I assume people only use Porsche for servicing to retain their warranty - but for those not doing it for that, why would you use an OPC vs a hi-end Indie like AutoFarm and the like.

No matter what’s said, the general public who buy the majority of these cars like to see a fully stamped opc history.

That will never change no matter what’s said here.

It's also great that most will see say a non genuine windscreen fitted and ask questions or use it to negotiate. For me, it's potentially great for business. In the background, the prices for windscreens are on the upward trajectory.

Glassman, my Cayman has a Pilkington screen (I'm happy with that); could it have been the original fitting, and is the date of manufacture shown somehow?

I have a 987.2 as well and my windscreen is an OEM Saint-Gobain with the "P" etching.

Even at £1k a 996 windscreen seems a snip compared with one for a Taycan . My excess is £2.5k ….

Windscreen excess is normally separate to your main excess and tends to be for a fairly nominal amount (£75 to £150)

There is no VAT on the excess. The excess is a policyholder contribution. Any VAT element is on the total cost of the job (added to the excess if a commercial policy).

Not sure on that. I have seen many people say that if they saw a service book with, for example, nothing but Auto Farm stamps, they would deem that as solid, if not more, than OPC stamps.

Makes no sense. It means you will be paying more than the insurer. No point in claiming if you're paying most, if not all the bill.
