I thought it was illegal to discriminate on the grounds of age.

So, how does this organisation get away with charging varying membership rates depending on age? Some sort of exception because it is private?

The pricing of the gym isn't designed to look like normal price vs concession or years of membership, it's just tiered according to age group. Perhaps it should state the 'normal' price of £675 then offer 'concessions' if you're younger?

They probably charge younger people less because

a) they use it less than older people do;

b) they have fewer younger people wanting to join;

c) their membership, like many golf clubs, is dwindling because of b)

Judging by the image they chose to represent 'lunch', there's a reason why they need financial incentives to attract younger people...
