The door got stuck late last night, the latch mechanism wouldn't retract fully enough to disengage from the strike plate. In my attempt to open I have broken the bar that links the two door handles, are these standard diameter and are they easy to get from Screwfix?

The door lock which you would turn with the key doesn't go in enough which is why it kept getting stuck but I'm unsure if it's the lock barel or the mechanism which is stopping it working. Is it worth just replacing both items? I would like anti-snap but unclear if they will fit or are they bigger?

Broken the spindle, impressive? Powerfully built hands at work no doubt! They’re all the same 8mm thickness, so replacement not an issue. Anti snap/bump cylinders same dimensions as cheapo ones though getting the correct projections a bit of a minefield. You’ll see measurements like 45/55mm, with many permutations. Hard to say what the issue is though, it could be the lock gearbox, the door has dropped etc. Guidance here on sizing cylinders, Barnsley locks

Mechanism
Option 1: https://www.toolstation.com/era-replacement-deadbo...
or
Option2: https://www.screwfix.com/p/yale-doormaster-silver-...

I'm not entirely clear if I need to buy just the mechanism or with the whole strip like this one: https://www.screwfix.com/p/era-stainless-steel-eur...

Lock
Thinking of this one - https://www.screwfix.com/p/yale-fire-rated-3-star-...
Not sure what the difference is between rated 1 vs. rated 3 and if I really need the more expensive one?

Spindle:

Although ready it appears this is what controls the reason I need a key to open the door from the outside. Can I change this for just a normal spindle to make it like a normal door?

I had a spanner on the end to try force the latch in a little further lots of to and fro and it's started to snap. The projections are good so I can remove and measure to make sure it's right. The door is still sitting right in the frame, equal spacing all the way round. I think I will buy a lock gearbox and lock and can return whichever one I don't need

You will be very lucky if the gearing you linked to works as a straight swap on your door. You would be better buying the Yale universal gearing that Screwfix sell instead. It should fit any door you may have

If you have one of the self locking doors, the spindle doesn't go straight through the door.

Easy to check if both handles are the same height when looking at the edge of the door.

The spindle is inserted from the inside but does go through to the handle on the outside, there is a spring & circlip on the internal leg, I've found this on ebay which I can get as the same length 54mm/54mm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174797616553?itmmeta=01...

just to update door is all fixed. I got an ERA split spindle 54mm-54mm from ebay and fitted perfectly.

The gearbox was another ERA part which I found by measuring up the broken one and managed to find it replaced like for like no need to get the whole mechanism.

I've also changed the door lock to a rated 3 style just to beef up security.

Appreciate the help and another job off the list
