Overview

Do you love ultra-rare, special edition performance machinery? Are you unhappy with the positioning of your internal organs? Well, good news! This quite magnificent slice of Japanese engineering (with a healthy dose of UK performance enhancement) ticks the ‘ultra-rare’ and ‘performance’ boxes and is quite capable of accelerating so hard that your organs give your spine a bear hug.

It’s important to note that this is not “just a GT-R” (although in itself that’s a wonderful thing). No, this has been heavily breathed on by the masters of usable performance, Litchfield Motors, to the tune of… wait for it… 800hp. Eight. Hundred. Horsepowers.

What that means is that, from a standstill, this brutalist slice of engineering nirvana will demolish 60mph in about 2.4 seconds and go one to pierce the magic double-ton, where permissible. Whereupon you may well need to have a little breather and a word with yourself.

Now let’s address the rarity. Only 20 of these bonkers machines have ever been made, with the last one having sold in 2018. It was created to celebrate Litchfield’s 20th anniversary and this is number one – believed to be the very car that Litchfield used to launch the model at the 2017 Autosport Show.

All of this means that what we’re looking at here is the ultimate, everyday usable version of one of the greatest performance machines ever created. A genuine one-off, highly collectible, deeply desirable slice of 21st century road-ripping technology. Could this even be peak internal combustion? Quite possibly. Without a doubt, it’s a beautifully finished, exquisitely presented and quite unique piece of modern performance car history.

• The badging, external trim, glass and light lenses show very well, with no cracking, chipping, damage or warping that we noticed
• Bespoke Litchfield carbon front bumper lip, grill blade, winglets, side skirts, rear bumper vents and rear spoiler lip
• Wide carbon venturi at the rear and twin NACA ducts in the bonnet give an extra edge to the motorsport aesthetic
• Stunning 20-inch, bronze-finish, lightweight forged, Rays Volk Racing TE37 alloy wheels showing no evidence of lacquer peel, kerb damage or any other marks
• The wheels are wrapped in a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres

Summary

In GT-R circles, it doesn’t get much better than this. Heck, performance cars in general don’t get much better than this. What Nissan achieved with the R35 was fantastic, what Litchfield have gone on to do with it afterwards is almost otherworldly. It borders on witchcraft.

Frighteningly rare and achingly desirable, this one-of-a-kind LM20 is precisely the kind of machine that most of us dream of owning one day. Precisely engineered, elegantly finished and offering the kind of performance usually reserved for hypercars and track specials, there’s much to recommend this incredible car.
