I’d suggest in those examples, the initial starting prices were unrealistic, so the big change is more apparent.
Exactly, hence prices are falling.Falling to me suggests an endless downward spiral, which does not apply here.
At the risk entering a doom loop with Sukh, the cheapest cars available last year were around £65k. 6 months later, the cheapest cars are around £65k.
Hence the point. £65 is bottom of retail market. You might find a dealer willing to take 3/4% off that. You might find a private buyer willing to accept £62ish. But you can’t buy these cars at much less now, than 6 months ago.
Yes- the bonkers priced £70 and £80k cars have dropped. Hardly surprising. But you can’t create a narrative that the prices for these are dropping fast, when there is a baseline that hasn’t been breached for half a year.
Scarcely matters what cars are making in the trade to private buyers as most of us can’t get access to Motorway and the like to buy from them. I maintain, at mid £50’s these will become very desirable to a lot of people. When that happens remains conjecture.

Yes it absolutely does, it's called depreciation, a spiral down until the low point which could be 10k or lower. I have no idea why cars depreciating is actually a discussion topic!highway said:

I agree with you, the bottom end isn't moving down as fast. Lowest retail car sold I've seen is £60k.Hence the point. £65 is bottom of retail market. Given the number of cars for sale, and for the length of time they have been for sale, it shouldn't be hard to achieve the same.
If you are confident this is the price floor, it must be time to buy...?
I’d never buy anything other than with really low miles. Some people disagree or choose different criteria but it’s served me well over the years. The low miles cars all make north of £55k.
Nearly bought a nice 991.2 cab with under £15k miles. It had warranty too. But low spec, cab, non S and manual had me worried. Auto 100 have it now. Via BCA.
I’d like a 991.2 at some point but not enough to spend north of £60k on a low miles 7 year old car. Emira appeals because they are new, look great and I like Lotus.

Mine is up there with the best of the private cars, it’s done just over 1,000 miles and there’s been very little interest at 68k at a local “prestige” dealer on sale or return
I’ll drop it next week if nothing changes.
I got offered £60k by trade, got more privately but dealer said they were retailing at about £65k so £5k margin, mine had 1500 milesI’ll drop it next week if nothing changes.

I’ve been offered £62k by a dealer. If I can get a couple of thousand more I’ll happily take it.I’m picking up the replacement today, so the insurance starts getting a bit annoying and I now don’t want it coming back to my house.

Selling after barely filling up with fuel 4 times! Yikes!
I’m also interested as to why anyone buys an expensive,
Specialist sports car and is willing to lose £10k plus in no time at all.
Not digging anyone out, just curious at to reasons.
I bought mine as I fancied it really. I saw the pictures, read the announcement, and thought it’d be just my sort of thing. I ordered it (I think) within a few days of being able to.I’m also interested as to why anyone buys an expensive,

A year on from delivery it’s not getting used. It’s the best part of three years on from ordering and my little boys now want to come out with me, together, so the chances to use the Lotus are few.
I’m also not keen on the engine. It feels anodyne compared to the k-series in the S1 Elises I once had, and I need more than “OK” to make me fall in love with it.
