Clarkson’s Farm

I would imagine some opportunistic has setup the companies in the names hoping perhaps to sell them on. A lot of companies are setup in random names and then sold to the person wanting a company with the name and directors changed shortly afterwards, and as this director is such in 80 odd companies I would imagine that's his business.Rebew said:

Does Jeremy actually own Diddly Squat farm Ltd as companies house seems to suggest otherwise.
Hasn't he gifted it to his children to save on inheritance taxYou are correct about inheritance tax. He said years ago that the only reason he bought a farm was because farms can be passed to children tax-free, so he thought it was the best way to shaft HMRC, by buying one of the most expensive farms he could.
Generally with well known people the company will be set up with a seemingly nonsensical name to make it slightly harder for internet sleuths to find any real info. There is also likely to be holding companies inbetween Clarkson's various companies and himself.

With no insider-knowledge whatsoever, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Adams set up the Diddly Squat companies in the hope that he could make some money out of the name. A bit like the cybersquattters who set up 21st Century Fox in the late-90's.
I wonder if the law of 'Passing Off' could be applied. Although I very much doubt JC would be that bothered.Last week on the Rest is Entertainment Podcast they discussed Clarkson's Farm, very positively. Richard Osman made a comment about the blackberry picking, Henry hoover, jam making.
Yesterday's podcast he announced that he'd been contacted directly by Jeremy who had stated, yes he did use a Henry Hoover, he did make all the jam himself, and made £250 profit.
Make of that what you will.
Apparently it's still doing staggering numbers on Prime.

If you haven't done so, try watching Gerald's bits with the subtitles on.
"They'd be better off if you could"
[Gerald speaking indistinctly]
"Only went to Romania didn't it. It's all Mrs Hasting. Bowsers. Simon is still in that place."
[Gerald speaking indistinctly]
[Gerald chuckling]
"See that was farming, wasn't it!"
Class.

I'm sure all that's true. Yesterday's podcast he announced that he'd been contacted directly by Jeremy who had stated, yes he did use a Henry Hoover, he did make all the jam himself, and made £250 profit.

But it was 100pc staged IMHO. That wasn't a serious attempt at farming it was done for the TV. There's no way Charlie provides advice on food preparation - he was there as a straight man.
There's no way Clarkson is not aware that quantities are a thing in recipes. (He owns a scales he uses for cooking as we saw in one episode.)
The fact he made jam and made a tiny amount of money doesn't make it real.
Great TV, not real.

I’m going to sound like a total creep now.
I did do some tracking on JC farm a few years ago after season 1. If you look up JC on companies house he has got a couple of food manufacturing companies that I believe are actually the farm.
There was an interview ages ago where he said he invented Diddly Squat farm for the TV show as he didn’t want it out in the public. Which makes sense as the farm is probably named the same as when he bought it.

Majority don't care as long as it's good TV, including those people earning a living from farming.

Series 3 was a roller coaster of emotions but feeling anger towards a door opener on Downing St wasn't on my Clarkson's Farm bingo sheet, what a piece of work.
I did find it funny when he said ‘don’t do it again’, like sure pal, they’re gonna rock up to number 10 again another day and give Rishi a knock on the door. What a spanner.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
