Rabea Masaad is, I think, much better than the bit-part player in Anderton's Music Shop videos.

He does the solo in this tune:-

I am prepared to face the music for my post smile

I nominate Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden. The way they share the lead / rhythm / solo's just seems to work, especially when you add in Steve Harris's galloping base lines.

I'm not a Maiden fan, but I have watched videos of them playing live.

Certainly Murray has an "effortless" soloing style that probably needs more recognition, and I've reckoned for years that the opening bars to "Phantom Of The Opera" needs to be the theme tune to F1 shows.

Martin Barre, an underrated musician whose guitar work brightened up otherwise turgid Jethro Tull tracks.

An extra gold star to Martin for putting up with egomaniac Ian Anderson for so long and not
suffering the strange fate of previous JT sidemen Bunker and Cornick.

Isaac Guillory.

Long dead but renowned for appearing in little random pubs and playing Woody or Arlo like no other

His version of Carmichael's Baltimore Oriel is stunning.

Shawn Lane, although not sure if he's actually that underrated or just not widely known.

Not sure if he's been mentioned already, but i bet that a lot of people don't realise that country crooner Vince Gill can stand his ground with the best pickers in Nashville

Thank you.

I first heard a recording on vinyl, of him in a little pub near Knaresborough about 30 years ago - used it to demo Linn and Naim etc hifi in the shop where I worked.

I can never tire of listening to that album. The fact it is recorded on a Walkman pro, in a smokey pub and on vinyl and just sounds mesmerising.

I hear a lot of him in Richard Hawley, which is a great combination, and he's another very underrated guitarist. .

It used to be on a lucozade advert with Daley Thompson....early 80’s.

Robin Trower usually pops up in these threads around now.
Robin Trower, who was lauded as 'The New Hendrix' in the early 70's, regularly appeared in Best Guitarist polls, and is arguably most famous as a guitarist who releases guitar-based albums? Under-rated?

I don't think there is anyone at Andertons who isn't better than Rob Chapman.

Good shout. Seeing Martin Barre and his current band just a few years ago was a great experience, and a great reminder of what he brought to Tull that made them so great.

Like Steve Hackett’s Genesis Revisited stands as a reminder of his not-insignificant contribution....
