I’m not sure your point?

There’s security officers escorting him from the quick glimpse I saw. He has protection whether that’s on foot or being driven around. That’s the point of protection.

Unless you mean something else?
Would security officer be able to catch a bullet, are they superman?

And if they can protect him walking down the street why can they not protect him on a bus?

Is that Met Police procedure now for vulnerable high profile politicians? Stick him on the No38 and change at Victoria?

It’s a Met vehicle. THEY decided he needs protection. THEY supply the protection according to need.

Should Rishi get a bus? Should the NI Secretary get a bus when out and about in Belfast?

Really don’t understand why you’re getting hung up on the police carrying him around in one of their vehicles.

He is vulnerable when driven around by the Met, but OK to walk down the street.

Because apparently he needs a vehicle but he seems to think others don't

Met Police Chief:

Sir Mark was formally appointed following a recommendation from the Home Secretary, after a highly competitive recruitment process.
Representations from the Mayor of London were considered by the Home Secretary as part of this recommendation.

Or to put it another way.

Khan: "doing what the Police who are responsible for my safety and protection tell me to do".

Sir Mark and Khan are too cosy for that to happen

I don't think Khan started tooling around in whatever car he isn't supposed to be in the moment Rowley got the job.

You don't have to like the guy or agree with a thing he stands for but seriously this is just daft.

Try again.

The Home Sec appoints the Met police chief.

The Mayor is given ‘due regard’ to his views on any prospective appointment.

Can you imagine it?

Khan - “if I give you the job, you’ll give me a cool ride, yeah?”

Rowley - “Mate, appoint me and you can have your pick! Got some quality Rangies coming in, latest model too.”

Khan - “You’ve got the job”

Jesus wept…

OK, still doesn't explain why the Met let him walk around on streets but think he needs a bullet proof Range Rover

Depends who you think know more about close protection I guess.

The Met or you.

What do you do for a living?

Oliver was a close protection officer, but threw himself in front of a speeding bullet meant for Liz Truss which hit him in the head destroying his brain. He's now just a shell of his former self, spending his days posting on PH.

if they allow someone who is in such danger to wonder the streets, I would say I do.

Let us for a minute just consider that there is a threat to him and the issue of a bullet proof car (why does it have to be a Range Rover?) is real, so he needs a car, yet he is telling people they don't, they need to live in 15 minute cities, walk or cycle.

I Suspect he has the car because of him being on a VIP list rather than an threat actually issued to him. Other people have threats against them and don't get Range Rovers issued by the police.

Just to give you some idea.

Mayor of London is third most heavily guarded person in UK - how far have we really come?

And that's three years old.

Do you think the situation will have improved since then?

A quick google shows he has protection 24/7. Apparently there is a 15 man team to look after him 24/7 which makes him one of the country’s most protected politicians.

They are not doing that because VIP. They do that because there is and has been a credible threat to him because of his position. Just because you post a few videos that show him walking around doesn’t mean that there isn’t protection, it may be that it’s out of shot and the protection officers see no threats in that instance. There are other videos where his minders are shown clearly.

Why shouldn’t he ‘wander the street’. He’s allowed to carry on as near a normal life as possible (and he has commented that his protection does put a strain on day to day living) and it’s upto his protection to intervene WHERE necessary.

Maybe you should be asking why he needs protection in the first place? Boris and Ken had far more freedom from Met protection (although they did still have it) yet why do you think that Khan needs extra protection?

This is a very strange hill for you to die on.
