RE: TVR Chimaera | PH Private Area
Discussion
Sadly and i've no idea why TVRs are hugely undervalued. I sold mine 3 years ago for 9k in the end only person interested having spent about 5k getting it "right" that was a 400 HC buyer got a bargain. Does really baffle me how undervalued they are but the market will always find it's level I guess.
I can see that they have a certain 'delocked, pearlescent flip paint' sort of aesthetic that was popular in the 90 'Max Power' era.
But yeah, also not a lot of overlap in terms of ownership demographic. Mainly appears to be middle-aged middle-class white men.
Give me another 10-15 years and I'm there!

Absolute bargain. A lot cheaper than the purchase price of the slight fixer upper I bought, plus the investment needed to get it to the condition of this one.
They are brilliant cars. Handle really nicely, very light on their feet, and a sense of occasion just sliding into it, and firing up that V8 that many cars 10x this value can't match. And the community is fantastic as well. All the help and advice you could ever ask for.

Also, fun fact, the TVR Chimaera and AC cobra run the exact same wheelbase dimensions to the mm. I also wanted a cobra…
15 years ago I wanted to buy a cobra, but ended up with a Griffith, which under the body is the same as the Chimaera. This Chim is bloody nice .

Looks a bargain...and I agree with other posters, I may be biased, but they do seem undervalued.
I will now never be without one as nothing beats the grin factor of one even at twice the price.
Still showing as available and not too far away. I already have a Griffith but have had 3 x Chimaeras in the past... I will now never be without one as nothing beats the grin factor of one even at twice the price.
I have bought the car from Scott. And what a gent the guy is. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of him and the build he has carried out. Nothing has been too much trouble including the well over an hour handover. My faith is restored in mankind! Top man Scott!
I was previously selling a 1973 MGB roadster and the amount of chancers out there is astonishing, not turning up, asking ridiculous questions, I think it must be a sport for some people.

A happy ending. I was previously selling a 1973 MGB roadster and the amount of chancers out there is astonishing, not turning up, asking ridiculous questions, I think it must be a sport for some people.
I wonder what Scott is going to move on to.

So, a bit of an update about my TVR 400HC L447VCD. Scott really did a lovely job on the car. And strangely, having picked the car up on its drive to my house I came across the 'Peaks to the Beach' run, they all waved, how meant to be was this purchase!!!!
Over the bit of time I have had it, it did develop a bit of a shunt at low speeds. Some of it me needing to change how I drove it from my other 'rides.'
I took it to my usual mechanic who had it sat in his garage and reported back no issues. He'd basically done nothing with it.
So I went to Powers Performance, met Dom, and had a morning with the legend. He said it must be a pig to drive! It wasn't to me!! Basically the plenum butterfly was moving slightly so created a shunt feeling. A quick repair and I blasted back up from Coventry to the Peak District. And I have had some great fun up to bedtime in October.
So moving on to this year, a major service, MOT, throttle trumpet service and injector check is booked in at Powers Performance in mid March. Literally, cant wait!!!
Already booked onto the season opener in April and the return to Blackpool event in July. And a blast over to see Scott, we are still in touch and he's well onto his next project!!!
I love this car!!!!!!
