Between airbox and turbo you'll have the air pressure recirculation (when you lift off the boost is diverted back into the intake) and oil breather. Later cars add air recirculation for emissions.Just installed the air filter a couple of days ago and I love it! There’s some additional induction noise (whooshing and hissing etc) but only at larger throttle openings.
The benefit of that is it adds some excitement to Normal mode, but only when you are giving it a squirt - it doesn’t spoil the very civilised feeling you get when just pootling around.
This is a big plus for me as Normal mode can feel a bit sterile, but I don’t necessarily want the pops and bangs of Sport mode all the time.
And it definitely feels like it picks up quicker - the engine feels freer and more eager. Win, win!
