I've got a bit of play/slackness at the top of the accelerator pedal, any owners got info on how to sort it?
I've found a thread on another forum but the images are no longer available so makes it a bit difficult.
As simple as adjusting the throttle cable, just next to the air intake. Probably had 21 years of stretch in it.I've found a thread on another forum but the images are no longer available so makes it a bit difficult.
All my Honda's had bit of a dead spot at times; a quick nip up & all gone
You not fancy the heavy Skunk2 gear knob for yours?

I've looked but I quite like the wear showing on the current one, adds a bit of character I think. All my Honda's had bit of a dead spot at times; a quick nip up & all gone

If anyone (anyone!) is able to help me find a touch screen head unit from a petrol Mk7 Accord I would be eternally grateful! The one I've got in at the moment is a bit tatty and was supposed to just be a cheap stop gap to see if it sorted out another problem. They do exist, there are petrol cars for sale with them.

Managed to get one! Searched for people breaking petrol Accords rather than selling the part specifically, much easier than asking sellers what fuel the car used. Car is in for some routine servicing at Underwood's in a couple of weeks so will ask them to fit it for me. I now have four Mk7 Accord head units, haha. At least you got it sorted, probably something I'll look into later on for mine.Glad you're still moving ahead with the car, they're good aren't they.
Don't know if this is something that might interest you,I've spoken to Paul West at TPW engineering regarding a remap.
It was the case you needed a harness or standalone for the ECU on the Euro R, although its the same running gear as the DC5 or JDM Civic its a different ECU setup. He has now been doing direct to ECU remaps with some good results for our cars, obviously depending on what mods you may or may not have.I'm not after 'number chasing' for mine,I'd just like to improve the driveability of the car,as good as it is.
He has said the remap improves throttle response, making it a bit 'snappier', midrange power delivery is improved and the map is bespoke to each car,so depending on how he dials it all in with the map and dyno will usually mean VTEC crossover will come down the rev range a bit too, which will reduce the slightly 'all or nothing' characteristic of the K20 which currently from stock is at around 5500 rpm at wide open throttle. On my car I have an Injen intake and Legalis exhaust system so it will be nice to have the car set up to what the car has.Overall power will likely be upped a little bit,but that's not the total aim of it for me otherwise I'd be looking at a Spoon or Toda exhaust mani and cams etc etc.Just want to get the most from what I've got and hopefully get an even more enjoyable drive out of it while keeping reliability and MPG decent. You don't have to have a heavily modded car,he said you would be surprised the difference even with completely standard Euro R's.
I'll paste the link in case you fancy it at some point.Looking at getting mine done Feb/March '24.He's been doing this stuff for years and I had a very good chat with him on the phone,so feel confident to let him do it. Too many 'copy and paste' mappers out there,he does seem to have cars in that have been 'mapped' by other people that he's had to sort out properly. Will let you know how it goes.

Actually, I'll also add that:
- £500 for a custom remap on an awkward ECU is not unreasonable
- the Accord in those photos is lovely, especially the wheels
- it's much closer to home than I was expecting, thought it was going to be in Kent or something

Great read OP! And good car choice
Really need to update my Reader's Car thread one day but I struggle to find time to lurk on PH these days, let alone keep my thread updated.
Have added yours to my watch list though and will look forward to joining the journey with your car.
Just one note – did you end up moving the ballasts over to your existing lights from the lights you sourced? Or have you fitted the new lights?
Also, if you're considering a tune, do it, 400rpm VTEC not only sounds amazing but also makes the car much more drivable in the low rpm, just means you feel like you don't have to kick its head in every time you want to get moving. It is preferable to change manifold before a map though as it's the most restrictive element. I went back up to TPW for a health check and some tweaks on mine recently and it made 262bhp – purely breathing mods – very happy with that.
Oh and finally, if you haven't uprated the rear anti-roll bar then add that to your list, it's probably the best bang-for-buck handling mod out there.
Enjoy!

Thanks very much. Your thread made up a good deal of my research and I've pestered you in Instagram a couple of times too. Really need to update my Reader's Car thread one day but I struggle to find time to lurk on PH these days, let alone keep my thread updated.

I ended up keeping the original headlights. I've needed to swap a ballast on one side and an igniter on the other.
262bhp with a 4000rpm VTEC sound very healthy indeed. I can't see me doing any further intake or exhaust modifications if I'm honest but if I could squeeze another 10bhp out of it with a remap I'd be happy.
I'll add rear ARB to the list (which is thankfully now very short!)

Ah great to hear, I just wish I'd kept it up to date as it only tell's half of the journey I've had with this car! The main thing is I'm still loving it and still driving the sh*t out of it (albeit only in the summer months now), can't think of anything I would replace it with.I ended up keeping the original headlights. Ah good, as I was going to say, I'm not sure you're aware but the Euro R headlights feature 'shadow' chrome inners which are unique to the Euro R, so it's not quite as easy as swapping for UK lights, nerdy thing that not many people would notice, but would annoy me if knew they weren't the correct ones on my car aha
I'm sure you wouldn't struggle to find that, and as you say, it's the drivability that counts, have a bit more grunt in the midrange makes all the difference.

Yeah I've noticed on Instagram yours is living a very comfortable life haha. Mine on the other hand hasn't seen a bucket and sponge since August. Must get round to that....Ah good, as I was going to say, I'm not sure you're aware but the Euro R headlights feature 'shadow' chrome inners which are unique to the Euro R, so it's not quite as easy as swapping for UK lights, nerdy thing that not many people would notice, but would annoy me if knew they weren't the correct ones on my car aha

Good to know about the lights, cheers for that.
Right, I've started looking at wheels again now so need to distract myself.
The part number I've purchased is 39050-SED-E810-M1, that's for nav with 'Premium Sound'. I've seen elsewhere that the D in SED could denote that it's from a diesel, but this is not the case. This part is from a 2005 (pre-facelift) petrol estate with the K20A6 engine. A look at sold items on eBay also shows that this part number has previously been sold as being from a petrol. I've also seen that the E in E810 denotes the geographic region or language (i.e. England or English); I think this part is true as my Japanese head unit is J410. Other than the characters used on the buttons, the parts are physically identical, including all the sockets at the back. This hopefully means I'll also be able to refit the top panel with the little LCD display.
As for the diesel head unit (non-premium, non-nav), the part number is 39050-SEF-E150-M1. As for the petrol head unit that is in now (non-premium, non-nav), I'm not sure on the part number and can't look at the original eBay listing but I will try to remember to put it in here.
Finally, when chatting with a seller on eBay I was told there are some differences between the DVD drive on pre- and post-facelift models and that they're not necessarily compatible with the different head units. I'm not sure how true or important this is and I think he was a bit of a piss taker anyway if I'm honest. I didn't end up buying from him.
Hopefully the above info helps someone in the future.
I also nicked the little joystick off the Japanese unit because the little kanji characters look way cooler than 'ENT'. According to my friend who speaks/reads Japanese reasonably well, it translates as "execution".
In other news, I think I'm gonna get some 15mm hubcentric spacers ordered today. Either Japspeed or Tegiwa. I know views on them are varied but I've used them in the past on other cars and not had a problem. The wheels sit way too far into the arches as is.

Car dropped off at Underwood's today for a service and a couple of other small jobs which I'll update on once sorted. Can't see me having it back this side of Christmas but not too fussed, I've other means of getting around. Literally immediately after I left these arrived, so I guess I'll be doing them myself on some miserable, wet afternoon some time soon:
The new head unit has worked..... sort of. As per the original unit, everything works apart from the screen! So, a bit of Googling and apparently if the DVD reader underneath the head unit fails, then the screen goes with it (random or what?). I'll be leaving the new head unit in because it'll connect to my Bluetooth dongle and will blow warm/cold air and that's good enough for me for now. Back to eBay.....
A few posts up I mentioned that I'd been told that pre- and post-facelift DVD units are different. I was sceptical but turns out it's true. The part number for a pre-facelift is 39540-SEA-G010-M1. The back of it looks like this:
The part number for the post-facelift is 39540-SEA-E110-M1 (so my geography theory might not be true). The back of it looks like this:
Part ordered and is only a few bolts/screws to replace. I *will* get there with this thing!

Getting the old lass back today! Serviced, intake manifold leak repaired and boot leak (again!) repaired. This time the latter was a vent in the arch, but it's all been sealed up to the gills and repaired for good. Few bits for me to do when I get it back then a mini road trip planed for the weekend!
Edit: The intake manifold issue was just a vacuum hose that had come loose so nothing scary and/or expensive.

Well folks, the new DVD reader did not fix the screen, as much as I was convinced it would. The wiring for the Japanese DVD unit is different to both the pre and post-facelift UK cars, but is closer to post. I know I wasn't getting power to the new one as it wouldn't accept the nav DVD. Ah well, I'm fine without it as I can control the temp and the audio but it would have been nice for it to work, just for the novelty at least. It does look a lot better now though:
I'm not going to persist with it any longer and at least I can sell all these spare bits I've got (if anyone wants anything cheap, let me know). I also got a quick shot of the short shifter just because. Don't think I've actually seen it in situ.
Oooh and I also noticed that the CD changer was fully loaded by the previous owner. All home burned stuff, some Billy Joel, bit of blues and apparently something called 'gypo folk'.
