Small world. I looked at that one the week before. You’ll want to add the rear crossmember on your to-do list . I look forward to seeing your progress. They’re great to work on, now into my second Classic project.
Yes it’s on the list. Just not on the one I wrote down here. eltax91 said:

In for the ride. If this turns out half as good as the last project it will be spectacular.
ThanksNot sure if I’ll go as far as I did with the defender. This one has a fairly solid chassis and so not sure if I need to go to the lengths of lifting the body.

This is excellent.
I always wondered who would buy from that collection as some were reasonably priced and some were… ambitious..
Shall watch with interest.
I strictly went to look at those only listed at £5k or less. I always wondered who would buy from that collection as some were reasonably priced and some were… ambitious..
Shall watch with interest.
Lets be fair, a Classic is more your thing than a deafener so do it properly.

Rip it apart and rebuild it properly.

To be fair it’s my first RR. I’ve had 2 defenders and 2 disco (D1 and D4). So I don’t yet know if it is more my thing. Lets be fair, a Classic is more your thing than a deafener so do it properly.
As with all of my past projects, the ‘juice must be worth the squeeze’. So I’ll only take the body off and go the whole hog if I think it’s worth it cost wise. These aren’t as loved yet as the 2 door and so the value ceiling is lower.
Also, my life situation. Has changed since I did the defender and I’m much busier with work. So tripling the amount of hours spent could add months or maybe even years to the project. So I need to bear that in mind as I’d rather like to drive it at some point….

Great stuff. I enjoyed the one I had. Have a good poke around the boot floor and where the front bulkhead meets the inner wings/footwells. And rear seatbelt mounts.
Already did before i bought it.... all fked Let's just say i'm going to learn how to weld
Previous owner bodge number one sorted. A fresh temporary jubilee clip and the fuel no longer leaks whilst priming or during the 20 seconds or so I ran the engine.
Problem number 2…. The oil cooler is leaking from the unit itself. It has evidence of previous bodge with something like JB weld. A replacement is £150, which is fine long term but whilst I get the engine up and running and work on other stuff, I may attempt a bodge of my own or perhaps get a bit of pipe to bypass for now.
The oil was pissing out at quite a rate so I imagine the gearbox would empty itself if fluid sharpish

New cooler arrived - damaged….. sigh. Now arguing with the supplier to try and replace it.
So, I took the old one down to my local hydraulics shop, and:
Great news is, the car runs up to temperature and stays there. It’s misfiring slightly but I’m sure thats just a case of new plus/ leads / coil.
It also moves!! Managed a quick reverse and tour round the driveway. Tested high and low range. So this means I can crack on with the resto, safe in the knowledge that the engine/ boxes don’t need major work and the axles are fine.
Onwards!
