Was just wondering about what car to buy next. I have a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo at present and was considering either a Ferrari 355(1998 LHD) or a Porsche 996 Carrera 4S (Brand New 12 month wait!). My heart is with the Ferrari but my head says Porsche. Seeing as you have owned one, what is it like to run? This is the main problem I have in committing to the Ferrari. Are they really expensive to service and how often do they go wrong.Did you have a lot of problems with your car? Your reply is much appreciated!! Thanks!!

Servicing is about £1k for an annual/ 12000 mile service and around £3k every 3 years for cambelt service which is an engine out job.

Of course once out of warranty you can go to an independant and the costs are roughly half to two thirds that.

Parts are not cheap but the only parts mine needed in 3 years outside service was a set of spark plug leads (£360)

For that sort of milage, roughly the same as I did, I don't think you'll find reliability a problem and driving a 355 is IMO much more of an event that a 996.

I test drove a 996 and it was very nice, and that's just it, it's nice not exciting in the same way as a 355.

Different story if you're doing 20,000 miles a year, then I'd say the comfort of the 996 would win for me.

Hi, picked up on the name as its been my nickname all my life, 'cept with a y.

Oooh bad depreciation mate but I have been exposed to similar experiences. My business partner had a 512M and lost 30k in 2 years.

And it was yellow and ugly.

Hey funny guys. Yes we work in Sesame Street. I'd introduce you to Big Bird but you've probably got one at home.
