Just for some balance, OLD, specifically Bumble, has been absolutely life-changing for me. So there's that.
Snap on Hinge, was thoroughly enjoying it, lots of entertainment and likes, ideally would have spent longer searching before I found my lovely lady.

My range was 35-45 and I didn’t meet with anyone with kids and everyone had there own place, either bought or rented.

Probably. laugh

The problem is that many people don't understand the rating system*. And they think they are more attractive or more of a catch than reality!

I bet if you asked 50% of guys on here to rate themselves they'd say "a good 7"

*For reference, anyone rated 7 or above can make a living based on their looks. There are NO tens biggrin

Back when OLD I was living in White City and matched with a really nice girl also in west London - she was attractive, sweet, good convo etc. We talked about meeting up soonest opportunity.
When details were exchanged, she was only about 4 miles away.
But then reality hit and it hit hard…
Turns out she was ‘that’ side of Hanger Lane.
I couldn’t do it. It would be too annoying over time.

So I was honest and gave her my reason.
She said suit yourself, basically that I was an idiot and that it was a lame excuse.
And the bit that still makes me laugh is she said ‘you’re not the first bloke I’ve met who’s said that’ hehe
For those of us in the northern wilderness, whats the 'Hanger Lane' problem?
a major ballache roundabout junction on the North Circular Road; and some simply not prepared to venture to that side. One of those areas in London that's also deemed slightly less pleasant than the comfort of the nicer bits of West London too; see also black cab drivers not going South of the river after certain times.

"anyone rated 7 or above can make a living based on their looks".......... doing what exactly? are you suggesting everyone 7 or above should/could/are models? 7 is somewhere in the slightly above average area if we assume 5 is average

i'll start the bidding with an 'utter gash' smilesmile

We all know bars, promo companies and some shops hire people based on their looks to a degree. The attractive girl/guy next door type who could get a little part time modelling work. But wouldn't make a fortune at it, and would need a career to fall back on Thats a 7.
8s are pro models doing supermarket and high street brands. Its their living.
9s are doing Gucci, Chanel and Prada runways.

Who decides what constitutes a given score?
And if you want to know what proportion of men are attractive to women wouldn’t a woman be a better judge?

Women are already judging.

If good looking, successful women aren't matching with your regularly on the apps. You're probably not a high scorer!

Unless you're in a uber place - London/New York/ LA - they're not usually on the app anyway. In smaller towns of course there's the exception.

(Like loads of people on here) I am out of the home for a huge chunk of my work day. Nearly 12 hours. I don't want to add on an hour or so commuting to see someone. I therefore limit myself to 10 miles. An event 14 miles away could have people attending from 10+ miles the other side. It would be most frustrating to meet someone and get on, only to find they live 30+ miles away.

In terms of the apps, I recently found myself bored, so reactivated my Hinge account, put up a couple new recent photos and rejigged my prompts. Sent a couple of the free "roses" to ladies who I seemed to have stuff in common with, sent some likes to a few others. Got ZERO responses.

Received a few "likes" from women that I have no interest in whatsoever. Its not just that these women are not ascetically pleasing. Its that they have zero in common with me so what's the point.*

And I've now re-paused the app as it is, and always will be, a waste of time for me! The absolute definition of insanity laugh

*I don't expect much. Though maybe others will point out my 4 things ARE expecting too much.

My Hard rules are
1) No kids from previous relationships
2) Be regularly active. As in 3+ times a week at whatever you're into.
3) No drugs
4) Not be politically left leaning. laugh

Preferences, but not deal breakers
Be 5'7+, as I'm 6'1
Not still live with their parents. This is surprisingly uncommon! Also I find the same women have zero savings and no ability or intention to move out! Despite being well into their mid 30s or beyond

Everything else is up for discussion as we go.
Hopefully you look like a young Paul Newman with those 'Hard' rules smile

6 months of being treated like the invisible man over the longest winter ever, then one day of sun and the ladies are all suddenly replying like they have been chewing on catnip, anyone else finding the same?

No! laugh

Nothing I want was landing. I'll continue to not bother for the rest of the year! Less demoralising
