The O2, Wembley, Silverstone and Manchester Arena to name a few, get your bloody act together and make it easier for wheelchair users to access tickets. So so frustrating.

It appeared there was a problem with the NIA's website so I tried calling. I was on hold so long I figured out what was wrong and was able to book my ticket) but do you have an Access Card? If you have and you register it on various venues' sites, you can book wheelchair spaces online rather than having to phone. I've used it at the O2 and the NIA amongst other venues. The wheelchair spaces just appear as an option on the list of tickets. I've got to wait until August 2024 for the Peter Kay show I'm going to now though... Praise the lord, I’ve never heard of that, I’ll get myself registered ASAP, many thanks for your help. Thought I'd get tickets for the missus for Christmas. Logged on at 9.50 and had 2 tabs open, 1 for Sheffield in Feb and 1 for Nottingham in July or whenever it was. When sales started I was around 17000 in the queue for Notts and 970th for Sheffield. Closed Notts down and stayed on Sheffield, within 10 mins I was in, tickets purchased and done. No idea why there was such low numbers for Sheffield but not complaining.

I actually agree with you. I’ve seen the same show on TV and really enjoyed it - but during the actual gig itself I was ‘is this it?’. That didn’t stop me buying tickets to the tour that was cancelled though! And if I could get face value tickets to this tour I’d absolutely go. I go to a lot of live stand up, and I don’t think it generally translates well in arenas/stadiums - there are of course exceptions (both in terms of the comedian and the venue, for instance for live comedy Leeds Arena is significantly better than Sheffield, with Manchester somewhere in the middle). But, if you want I see the big names a lot only tour these types of venues - which I know makes sense for them.
Sat here 10am Saturday morning, 2 phones with the ticketmaster app, 1 laptop on the M&S Arena Liverpool site and an iPad on gigs and tours.... Initially on the phones we were 45K and 110K in the queue, the 45K reset and ended up at around 125K on the queue. 2 hours later tickets gone, laptop/iPad the same.
I ended up pressure washing the patio stuck in a queue of 475K and eventually got tickets at 3:30pm for Manchester Nov 2024!!

I went to see Peter Key in Manchester last night, and I'm not quite sure what I think to be honest.
If you loved Peter Kay back in the day then you may be pleased that his act is done in the exact same style as he's always performed, it's perhaps as if disappearing for a few years never happened, he's the same comedian performing in the same style with the same type of humour, delivering it in the same way.
However there was something missing for me and I'm not sure what it was, maybe his humour was of its time and hasn't aged so well, after all comedy does change over time. There were a few moments when he struggled to remember certain words, or names. That's not a criticism as he has a lot to remember and he's been away from the stage for a good number of years so maybe not as slick, but then he's been doing this tour for some time now, this wasn't one of his early appearances.
Talking of appearances, he does look completely different now, he's quite slim now and obviously looks older, at first I didn't accept it was him, but his voice and mannerisms are exactly the same. Had he not been away from our TV's for so long then I might not have noticed his change in appearance as we all change gradually over time, but having not seen him for so many years I was a bit shocked when I saw him on stage. I kept wondering if he has been ill as many believe, is he still ill?
One other slightly disappointing thing was his encore. After his main act he disspared from the stage but we all waited for him to come back on for his encore, which he did. But then when finished he thanked everyone for coming and said goodbye, and left the stage. Along with plenty of others I got up and left the arena, only to find out he came back on again for another 20mins performance, which I missed. I'm a bit annoyed with that, and with myself for leaving, but then who expects a 2nd encore?
So it was great to see him live on stage again, but at the same time I'm not so sure I enjoyed it as much as I might have had I seen him live back on the day,

I forgot to post when we saw him in London.
Had a really good night, he didn't use a lot of his old material but delivered new material in a similar style, encore for me was great. His appearance though as posted above, I really didn't recognise him. I've managed to find a new picture of him which I will post below.

Interesting. - both my brothers went to see him a couple of weeks ago in Birmingham. They were both underwhelmed to put it mildly. t. The other offered a bit more of a thoughtful summary. Said exactly the same, something was missing, said that the material/delivery came across as very dated, and though that his heart wasn’t in it. Shame, because he’s a naturally funny bloke, but maybe just been doing it too long?? We saw it about a year ago and I thought it meh. My other half enjoyed, we're both fans.
Off again in a couple of weeks (don't ask) so it'll be interesting to see what it anything has changed. We're on the front row this time, which is the only thing that's interesting me.
It's along time to do the same act and keep a high level of intensity.

I think its a possible combination of factors..
Perhaps the material, type of humour and delivery style hasn't aged so well, humour has changed over the years as it always does and perhaps his humour isn't as funny as it once was.
Maybe my sense of humour has changed over the years, and what I once found funny I now find less so. Peters humour was something new when he appeared on our screens and I loved that, but it's now no longer something new.
Perhaps with Peter having been away from public life for so long means his sudden change in appearance alters my perception of what I expected, he was once a young and slightly tubby loveable guy (he shows some photos of him and his late Nan during the show, and o some of them he has really put weight on), now he's an older looking slim chap and the sudden contrast between the two might be too stark?
Or it could be one or all of the above. However he's a guy I still want to keep seeing around on the TV etc, and I'd like to see more of his work. There's been mention of a possible Phoenix Night film which could be fantastic, or not?
