Good defensive start from Abbi to hold the lead.

I always enjoyed it when there was a local race from the national motorsport. The British Grand Prix in years past as a support race alternated between historics, saloons or sports. At Monaco we had Renault 5s or Alpines. M1s were exciting to watch.

There is often a local series in the support programme, this weekend it’s the North American Porsche Carrera Cup as well as the Academy. We often don’t get to see it though, because of media rights issues with the broadcast.

The BMW M1 Procars win the prize for the best support series ever, with a bunch of current and former F1 drivers involved.

Great weekend for Abbi Pulling, two pole positions and two lights-to-flag wins to extend her lead in the championship.

Personally im dissapointed she has gone down this route. Can't blame her as I guess it brings her more exposure and money but she was quick in her younger karting career and hasnt gone down the country f4 regional f3 route.

IIRC she was in British F4 but ran out of money, then got the opportunity for free racing, coaching, and exposure, in WS and now the Academy.

The wider point is correct though, that the best drivers need to graduate quickly into other series, and they need to drop the age limit from 25 to 21, which would mean Abbi was aged out next year anyway. Ban the champion from returning as well, as they do in F2. A series for F4 cars should be full of 16 and 17-year-olds, not 21 and 22-year-olds with three years in the same car. Abbi and Doriane should really be racing Euro F3 this year and targeting FIA F3 next year. Jamie Chadwick was the same previously in WS, hanging around for three years instead of moving on, and now she’s a very old Indy Lights driver.

I do think they’ve thought about the issues raised though, and intend to support their top drivers into other series with sponsorship and F1 affiliations. It’s still a horrible numbers game though, for women as it is for men, and many of them will fail before we see one come through to F2 or even F1.

As they say in America, cautions breed cautions.

A hectic race here, with 30 eager teenagers on a narrow track.

Good lord, what happened there at the end of the Virtual Safety car on the last lap? LOL, caught napping! Amazing.

Still, what's that. three safety cars in a short sprint race? Crikey.

Was just about to say what an awesome race for Leon, then he got mugged at the end, on what was always going to be a short VSC as the field passed the stranded car on the last lap.

He got away with it though, as Goethe got a late penalty for an earlier infringement!

Short delay to the F2 Sprint, seven minutes, so we go at 14:22 local time.

Well that didn't take long.
Sigh.
Was the at driver moving in his car? That looked a bit worrying.

Ha, easy prediction. It's almost impossible to not have a lap one incident here!

Think they’re all okay, but going to be a red flag.
