I don’t really see the point in these anymore as daily cars, an EV will match it and cost a fraction to run.
Better off with a bike for thrills.
Agreed. They've jumped the shark really. A Skoda in a posh frock (is the interior more robust?) with a massively powerful engine that will be of little benefit for 99.8% of the time.

The Yaris GR referred to above is more appealing too.

Quite a weird thought process.

So we should only have 2 options
1) Buy an EV that realistically won’t be as good to drive and boring, isn’t capable of doing a track day, is a pain on long journeys and for equivalent money there is a good chance the EV can’t even win the 0-60 (there speciality) unless you spend a good bit more.
2) Buy a slower, less practical, less luxurious and pretty poor daily in the Toyota that will be the same on fuel as the RS3.

Surely what makes this RS3 so special is it has no weaknesses and such a wide range of abilities.

As for the bike comment I’m sure that will be great dropping the kids to school or going to the airport. I’m sure I’ll be having the time of my life in the middle of January driving to work at 7am and be so glad I didn’t get that RS3.

You appear to have made a few assumptions there.

Please show your working.

I love the variety of views on here but your trolling right? A Skoda in a posh frock? Please tell me what key parts are shared with which Skoda model?

And imo you can enjoy a large engine at any speeds, the sound, the easy torque, the character.

I’ll happily reply for a bit of friendly discussion to any specific challenges anyone makes provided they are friendly and have a bit of logic beer

Obviously would need you to be a bit more specific

Always loved the RS3 and colour aside, it’s a great looking motor

£16k seems a bit steep but I guess that’s more the wheels and chavbon for you.

Mind you, it didn’t seem that long ago that Superchips et al were £399 fitted

ABT really does need to design a new wheel. They're been chucking that one on cars for about 10yrs now and it's rather boring.

My preference would be a manual G87 M2 modified to 600hp by Litchfield (as per Harry’s recent video). However, with the caveat that it would need to be in a very dark colour to hide the similarity to Kryten’s head. Carbon black or Monaco blue from the old BMW colour palette would be ideal.

Genuine question, but how do you go about insurance on these?
Do you have to list all the mods or will the insurance company recognise the ABT model in its own right?

Seems to be done on the cheap to me but asking top dollar. ECU upgrade, springs only, full KW is an option, no brake upgrade for the power increase, tailpipes only, same old wheels from the warehouse, the carbon bits on the roof spoiler look more stuck on, and as for the interior bits, floor mats, logos and an ABT starter button almost seems a piss take.. 15k plus fitting. Another 2k to fit some mats etc?

I would think that most mainstream insurers would not touch this so you would need to deal with a specialist insurer who would have the relevant knowledge to quote on cars like this.

I love to watch touristfarten at the Nurburgring on the YouTube and see a large number of these tuned cars suffering overheating and going into reduced power by the time they reach Breidscheid and really suffer on the uphill section, so I'd like to have some cooling upgrades for the 16k, no mention of this in the article, I suppose if I was looking I'd find out myself. boo

Allegedly the Abt piggy back modules only give the extra power in ideal conditions. A couple of laps on a track day, or hot weather and it knocks the power back to standard, to protect the engine. Hence the "up to 485 bhp"? Allegedly Abt have quite a special dyno too...
