If they’re going to make a pastiche of an old model they should at least offer it with pop-up headlights
Not legal.
I think with technology they could have virtual pop-up headlights where the headlight luminaire are covered by transparent LCD screens which go to body colour when the lights are off and, obviously, go transparent when the lights are on....

But anyway, what a trick car. It's great. That rear half is like some 1970's concept car.

Spider in Grigio or TDF please. I think Grigio with yellow calipers would look amazing.

Admittedly I’m a sucker for a blue Ferrari

I would also add… is this possibly one of the worst model names Ferrari have come out with?

Love Ferrari, but this isn’t getting the usual ‘want’. No doubt it will be epic to drive.

I do wonder how many owners might paint/wrap the weird black panel, particularly on the Spyder.

I will definitely be considering wrapping/painting the black portion on the rear, but I love the front.

Tributes to previous designs are a slightly dodgy way to go imho.

But they’ve ended up with a decent looking car.
Though I don’t really understand what is going on with the black bits at the back which are, to be polite, bold.

From what I understand they still are. It’s just become far too complex and costly to engineer and manufacture pop ups that conform to regs. Besides headlamps are a lot smaller now so there is also a lot less need to have the extra volume to package them.
"Concealable" headlamps are still permitted under the regulations. However, cost, weight, complexity, packagng, aerodynamics and pedestian safety regs means manufacturers don't bother anymore.

5.14.1.
The concealment of lamps shall be prohibited, with the exception of the main-beam headlamps, the dipped-beam headlamps and the front fog lamps, which may be concealed when they are not in use.

Thank you, this document is useful. I have certain snippets of this document (or similar docs - need to check the codes) we refer to when checking positioning of lamps on exterior / visibility but not this full doc.

The recent coupe concept from Mazda reignited my thoughts on ‘why not’ when it comes to concealed lamps. Would love to see a resurgence.

That rear glass section looks terrible.

Not a fan at all. Not even convinced it'll grow on me either. Just a mess in so many places. No elegance.
That rear 3/4 pic just reminds me of the old Honda CRX. Not a separated at birth thing…
The rear is a tragedy but we all like different things.

I think it's colour dependent. I do see most cars being spec'd with the black boot lid thing painted body colour. Or at least choosing a very dark colour to minimise it's offensiveness.

I like the open top more than the coupé. That said, I'm not sure what such a car is good for, aside from posing. Just imaging driving it from Milano or Pavia to Portofino on these small strade provinciali over the Ligurian hills. Maybe spend a night at that national tennis camp up there. Would be very concerned about ground clearance. So major highways only? Not in the GT spirit ...

Beautiful car - not keen on the name. Reminds me of that Fiat hot hatch in the 90's Sedici Valvole!!!

I guess this is pronounced dodeci cilindri?

This is my problem with V12 Ferraris. That would have cost around £330 new so the first buyer probably lost £120,000. £30,000 a year (before finance costs, maintenance, insurance or petrol). £50 a mile.

Back in around 2014 I could have bought a new Speciale at list (I saw two for sale at Ferrari dealers, one in Zug and the other in Surrey). It would be with pretty the same value now.

I just drove a Pista 2100mi in 10 days through rural Spain and Portugal. If that thing can do it, this thing can too. It sits pretty high it looks like. Don't really see the issue!

Hasn't that always been the way with special editions? They hold their value and others dont. Have a look what something like a 360 is fetching now...

I think the 12c will look good once somebody paints the black bits or Ferrari release a special edition without them. But they will probably all be a money pit in the first few years.
