Updates - Polestar 2

Polestar had its 60k service last week - As its now out of its service plan, it was chargeable, £125 which I didn't think was too bad, but essentially they didn't do a lot - Just a look over, brake fluid.

Its also insurance time this week for the Polestar, well, that was a shocker!! Did the usual compare the markets and people like direct line - Out of the entire compare the market, only 7 firms would quote and they started at 3.2k!! Highest was 7.6k !!!

WTF!!!

Anyway, managed to renew with the currently provider for £1400 - still a total faff and way to expensive. When I got the car, the first year was £350!!

Updates - Murcielago

Its due its annual service and MOT this month, so its all booked in with Furlonger Cars - They will also install the larger brakes while the car is in - I was going to do it myself, but life is getting in the way and they have offered to do it while its there.

Update - Range Rover

Its still looking wounded and sorry for itself, the rear qtr panel is still on back order - Other than that its driving well and still a lovely place to be

Update - Merc

I washed it - Its parked up for winter

Update - Impreza's

I went to look at them to start to think about a plan of action

I think I recognise your name from one of the BMW forums, you had quite a detailed thread on the E39 & E60 M5s?

Arrrh my 2nd car, I was 19 and made up when I bought it Sadly one of only cars 2 I don't have a digital photo of, I have a few 35mm pics of it somewhere, but it was red with the black and grey checked cloth.

I was so excited and did the young person thing on the day I got it, Filled it up and went to my favourite bit of road and opened it up..... I got caught speeding and got a ban for 3 weeks - The only time I have ever had a driving conviction... I had to sell it come insurance renewal time as it went through the roof and moved to the 405TD

The car was back then getting rusty, but wow I loved it - The engine was mega, the seats and interior Japanese perfection
I had to have a head gasket done in my time as it blew. I did loads of miles and UK tours with car clubs. My most memorable one was a 3 week trip to the Lake district and some of the best driving memories.

Although not my car, it was the same as this

I had 4 of these in a row, they were magic to drive.

Murci insurance renewal came in today, Its gone up a little but still very happy with the cover for the premium

Still far less to insure than an old ranger rover and a milk float

Its due its annual service and MOT also, but that will wait until all the salt has been washed away from the roads

That wheel design on the Murci is just brilliant, makes them look so deep.

I agree, one of the best designs the Hercules design. They are 13J wide at the back taking a 335/35/18 tyre

Update time on 3 of the cars

Murcielago MOT time - Went through perfectly, had a bit of a blast in her too to celebrate - not driving it for a few months make you really appreciate just how amazing a machine it is, and quite how loud it is too lol

Polestar MOT also on the same day - Failed!! Tyres have sustained a but of inner damage - I wonder how that could happen with our perfect roads!
I was going to do them anyway next month, so 4 new Pilot Sport 4s tyres ordered and will be fitted Tuesday and a lovely crisp MOT will be issued then

Range Rover - Due its MOT in a few weeks time, but I have booked it in early for tomorrow. As its still wearing its scars from when the lorry crashed in to it (Landrover have the qtr panel on back order still) I am hopeful it will go through

Andy, very interesting thread, that is a very impressive list of cars. Favourites, I wouldn’t even know where to begin, so much to choose from!

I’ve certainly enjoyed reading your updates, interested to see what comes in the future. Thank you for posting.

And now 3 for 3 on the MOT

Tyrepoint in Maidstone Kent yet again sorted me out with a fantastic price and quite honestly the best service you could wish for for 4x new Pilot Sport 4s and a full tracking

Considering the Polestar has done 65k now, it was very surprised to see just how in spec it still was

Before alignment and as I say, after a hard driven 65k

And after - And yes it was worth doing as the car had started to give slightly uneven ware

Then a quite trip back and MOT certificate issued - Happy days

It was a very different colour, and as a said, the repaint was done to a stupidly high quality

Brakes are still not on the car, work and life has gotten in the way along with poor weather.

Its booked in for a service in end of Feb and they will most likely do the brakes then if I don't get round to it before

Electric cars really are not the answer - Polestar 2 was at 90% charge this morning. I have done 140miles and I got home with 3% battery!!

Absolute rubbish - Avg 40kw to 100 miles today - Lights on, wipers going, water logged roads etc - Had to put AC system to eco to save battery, but then the car started misting up blah blah

I am going ask for a state of health check on the battery as I think its dropped below 75% threshold

That's what puts me right off them. But it's good to get some feedback from people who have used one in real world conditions. thumbup

Since the car went past 63k I have seen a steady de-crease in its range this month

Last year, as late as December I would easily get 180miles in the deepest winter, car is now on 66k and suddenly I am loosing a lot of range and we are above 6degress C which really makes an impact on range

A Saxo to a Lambo, that is quite some journey and some great cars in between.
