Any Panda has my approval.
We ran a mk2 for 7 years, it cost us pennies to run and maintain.

Agreed, driven a few over the years and actually owned an original one from 1984 back in the early 2000's. Also, by having the Panda it will make me appreciate the Giulia even more when I get it back at the weekend! biggrin

Pleased to get my car back from the paint shop yesterday. Lacquer peel on the roof and damage as a result of machine polishing on the boot and rear quarters now sorted.

Really pleased with the finish and the colour match. It cost £700 to put right, however thankfully I didn’t have to pay.

Front grille needs to be changed, I’ve got parts and it’ll get booked in very soon. The old grille is the only part of the car that gives away the near 115,000 miles.

My giulia is off to an independent specialist for its big service tomorrow. Main dealers just want too much, up to £1000 for a service on a daily car is insane.

Yes, I’ve been quoted close to £1000. My car will need its second cambelt change in 5,000 miles. My local Alfa Indy has quoted £590 including VAT.

I have never taken my Alfa's to a main dealer after i took my 155 for them to diagnose an electrical fault (cant remember what it was now).
They kept me waiting for an hour and a half to tell me they couldn't connect to the computer and then wanted to charge me £80 for doing nowt.
Lesson learned, always used a good Alfa inde.

It’s not even a cambelt on the giulia just an auxiliary belt and plugs. Local Indy with a good rep is £600.

Have they got a good match and a good finish on the paint?

Yes, you have to look quite hard to see the difference, there is a very slight difference unless you already knew it had been painted it would be hard to tell.

I was very anxious about it, however fair play, the garage carried out their promise, used a good workshop to get the job done, and kept me informed over the 4 days they had the car.

My car doesn't have active cruise control, but its only £160 to have the switch changes and the programming done. Its very tempting.

Ooh, I do a lot of motorway miles and would like to modify to adaptive cruise if poss. I'd be interested in more details.

I plan to have this car to about 200k so it's a mod worth doing if it's this cost effective.

Speak to Neil at NJS in Pershore. (Alfa specialists). They can also add car play, auto main beam, reversing camera etc.

Not sure where you are based, but I suspect other Indy's can do the same.

I’m Leicestershire but I’d have no problem going across to Neil Smith. Thanks for the info.

I’ve now covered 5,000 miles in the first 4 months.

No major issues to report. Today I’ve had 2nd cambelt change done (due every 60,000 miles/5 years) this included the water pump and oil segregator and a new air filter, the lot cost £500.

Recently had an engine management light come on, this was traced to the EGR Cooler. This part is about £450-£500 from Alfa and I believe a back order. I managed to get one from a breakers for £50.

119,000 miles on the clock, running sweetly. I’m very happy with my ‘cheap’ so far.

Longest trip yet in the Giulia yesterday.

Leicester - Middlesbrough - Whitby - Leicester.

415 miles covered, averaged 52.46 mpg (checked after refueling this morning on a calculator)

My cheap Giulia continues to be great to own.

Wash a hoover out this morning. You can join the dots with the chips on the bonnet, otherwise it’s in great nick. biggrin
