The bump pattern matches nicely.

As an aside, I find the accelerator pedal spring in my V8V a little too light and doesn't support my foot well, especially in light load conditions. As you've been messing around down there, do you think it would be easy to swap out and would the Merc one give a higher pedal load?
TBH I was only looking at the pedal cover not the structure or mechanism. I think you'd have to look at the part on Scuderia or AMBits and make a judgement call on if things can be swapped about. Personally I find the feel is fine, just needed it closer as my ankle doesn't rotate enough to bridge the gap.

After around 6 months of ownership, yesterday I finally had my new to me DB11 washed and detailed. Also had the tint removed from the door glass and windshield.

Look what happened!

Is the 707 a courtesy car while your roadster is in for a service?
What do you think of the car?

I have the opposite problem - I could do with it further away as I have a 35" inseam. That's why I'd like a little more support when I'm having to bend my ankle to lift my foot up. I suppose I could just drive everywhere at half throttle biggrin

Took her for a nice day out at Goodwood. 100th Birthday Sunday breakfast event, great turnout and some nice Astons amongst others including the 177

Yes I was getting CarPlay fitted.

Unfortunately it was horrible weather. It’s an incredibly smooth riding vehicle yet still handles nicely. Very easy to drive. It does not feel its (very substantial) size at all. It is effortlessly fast and the gearbox is really well matched for a very smooth experience. If you are into SUVs you would certainly not be disappointed. My single complaint would be the infotainment. I prefer the one in my roadster especially with all the extra buttons which make things much easier to find and use. Once they’ve got that fixed it will be the king of SUVs for sure.

Had an enjoyable few hours pulling trim to install a dashcam with a hard-wire kit. I couldn’t find a permanent live in the cabin fusebox, so I ran a twin cable from the battery, through the centre console and down to the footwell.

Hardest bit was re-fitting the cover panel behind the mirror, while holding on to the mirror itself (auto-dimming mirror has a power cable that can’t be connected after the cover panel)

Due to the location of the mirror (a long way back from the screen), the dashcam is just visible from the driver’s seat, but it’s pretty much unavoidable.

I also took the opportunity to connect the battery vent hose. The battery that came with the car didn’t have the little plug that pushes into the battery and the battery I fitted last year didn’t have it either. In the end, I took one from a scrap battery at the local tip.

Pics of final installation (inside and out) would be appreciated

Thank you for your feedback.
I was just curious what your thoughts were as an Aston owner.
I’ve owned mine for a year and a half now and am over the moon with it.
Extremely reliable everyday car, very comfortable but also razor sharp handling and involving when you’re in the mood.
Actually they’ve just revised the infotainment which is a carryover from DB12 and New Vantage.
I’ve got used to it now, I connect my phone with Apple CarPlay and use voice control mostly.
I find the TrackPad works fine too, a bit like the pad on my MacBook.

I did quite a bit of research on this. You can go aftermarket and it’s about $1900 or so installed. However, me being me I researched it back to front and inside out and there are issues with the aftermarket ones.

In fact, there were even some issues with the original dealer fitted one which has led them to come out with a new solution. I’m only the second customer to have the new one installed. I do have a problem at the moment with the sound not going through the speakers, they are going to fix that on Friday. Other than that it’s really very good. It wireless connects over wifi. All your original buttons work fine, everything switches as it should and feels very “factory”. The screen is surprisingly good, better than the one that was in my M2CS really. In the CS I always used the iDrive wheel as I hate smears on the screen, so having the Mercedes version of the wheel is perfect for me. Oh yes, the price. $4k installed (GBP 2100, USD 2600). I’m fine with that as it means I will never have to use that built in Sat Nav again. The built in Sat Nav is actually quite good once you have entered the address. However, entering the address takes about as long as the trip itself.

I bet you are over the moon with it! It’s such a “do everything” vehicle. Yes, I didn’t have a cable with me so I couldn’t use CarPlay. And yes, I prefer the wheel and trackpad over a touchscreen any day of the week and also usually use voice. I like the quick access buttons though. As you said I think they’ve likely nailed it in the update and it will bring wider appeal to the majority of people that like to smear dirt on their screen smile

What a day to own an Aston.

Hadn’t driven it for a couple of weeks but today I took it to AM Newcastle for service. 2 hours later I was back on the road which caught me out slightly due to the quick turnaround, so when I got back to York decided to go and collect my gun from service at the gun shop. On the way back got a thumbs up from a young guy driving an old MR2 which was nice. Then I stopped for fuel, as I was filling up a young chap walked past and commented ‘nice car’, very kind. When I went to pay, the girl on the till sheepishly asked if it was a DB11. Why yes, the AMR I replied. She got very animated, she is a car nut! Following a brief conversation about the car she asked if she could come with me and get some pics so I duly obliged. I sometimes forget how much love there is for Astons, often from the younger generations (makes me sound old argh), there is hope for the future people!

Got my car back from the great team who look after it, new headlights, rebuilt wiper motor and rack, some specialist engine work and follow-on under-bonnet cosmetics. Plus a whole load of small stuff to complete a rolling 10000 mile service begun a while ago. About £500 of bits plus time of course and the dreaded VAT. We've got a few things planned this summer so fingers crossed for good weather occasionally, starting with spectating at Castle Combe AMOC Area 13 event tomorrow and maybe Classic Prescott on Sunday. So topped up about 1/4 tank of Optimax (£50)
