Anyone know if Bury Market is operating as normal? Their website says the indoor market is closed due to aerated concrete issues, yet the trip advisor reviews etc seem to suggest everything is normal.
I'll be up that way next month and have aways fancied going, especially to the food stalls for the Black Pudding and Eccles cakes etc, but not if they aren't there.

I don’t know about the market, but you can stop at the Bury Black Pudding company and buy from them as a walk-in. Just off Jxn 2 of the M66.
Bury outdoor market (Not Bury St Edmonds) (Reputed to be one of the best in the country) is fully open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays.
Unfortunately, the indoor market next door is closed, and probably will be for a year or so. as they have found problems with the integrity of the concrete roof as I understand,
If you come to Bury, I can recommend The fusiliers museum and the ELR Steam railway less than five minutes walk away.

A proper Bury black pudding is eaten freshly made, boiled, and from the skin so the blood runs down your chops. Chadwicks do the original fatty pudding and a leaner version. Many happy memories of eating them at Gigg Lane (before Bury FC was thrown out of the league after being bought by a crook) and at the Mason Arms in Ramsbottom (before it was renamed as some sort of gastro-pub)mikef said:

Spot on.As a northerner I can confirm that Bury puddings are the food of the gods i.e. northerners.
