Just got fined! What’s the point apart from money making?

I rode up to London last week , I didn’t really know where I was going and trying to find the location I wanted to get to , traffic was very heavy in places and had to be as observant as poss , what with cameras , yellow boxes , bus lanes allowed then not , etc etc .
Went down this rd and then drive through this and got a PCN
My main query is what actually is the point , it was a residential street cars parked up and down it and I’m still not entirely sure how any of the other cars parked are on every day , is this now a thing where only people who live In the street can drive there ? But that still wouldn’t explain how or who is actually allowed down said street ?

The road in question is park ave e6 / flanders rd e6
Or I suppose what i am also asking is , how does this work is this street now blocked off in different sections so you can drive down a bit but then if you want to go a bit further , you have to double back and go the long way round ?
Just confused really on how this actually helps anyone and why like my PCN says prohibition on certain types of vehicle , when the street is full of said vehicles ???

Isn't it simply the prohibition applies to that 10m or road that you ar going through?So, nothing stopping anyone from entering from the other end, and turning around and driving up and down if they so desire.
Its intention is just to stop a 'through route' for cars and motorbikes?
I don't know the area, but maybe they used to get heavy traffic bypassing the other routes.

This is where you went wrong. London is full of anti-motorist features, LTN's, ULEZ, CC, cameras everywhere, 20 limits everywhere, yellow box junctions everywhere.
You can try your best and yet still get hammered, as you've found out. You have my sympathies, as indeed it appears to be solely a money-making exercise, masquerading as "transport improvements" for the people who choose to live along a road in London.

Yep, this is pretty much what I found out. Went to west London to collect a TV purchased. Did everything possible to stay out of the congestion zone. Returned home to receive a £90 fine for entering it. Khan, you can f
k right off if you think I'll be visiting your city any time in the nearer future.London and Oxford are my present no drive towns. Impossible to drive in both without having that stressful two week wait for a penalty. Although I seem to recall in Oxford as they come from councils it's a 28 day wait! (Might be the same in London but I have not tried to drive there for years)
It's not like the signage wasn't clear. Did you not know what the signs meant?
I think you're probably just venting rather than seriously asking the question but it's pretty obviously intended to stop a rat run through a residential estate, without stopping emergency services access. The cars there have presumably entered the estate through one of the other entrances.

This is the answer. The restriction is there to allow certain vehicles through but in general to prevent the road becoming a rat run with a level of traffic that it can’t cope with. I don't know the area, but maybe they used to get heavy traffic bypassing the other routes.

Were you "delivering postal packets addressed to premises..." ?

They have popped up like a virus since Covid.
All my fave cut throughs in SW and W London have restrictions now, channeling all traffic on to the main route which just sits there, barely moving and increasing pollution.
Wandsworth Bridge road, traffic now stuck in both directions making even progress by motorbike very arduous.
Is one example.
Also what happens if you are just visiting the residential area, or picking up an eBay purchase?

I guess you might have to finally suck it up and do what everyone does to facilitate millions of people to successfully transport around such a small area.

London is basically a motorist trap. Glad I left when I did 18 years ago. It was bad enough back then with bus lane cameras only trained on the final 10 yards where the lanes merged and became "normal" again. Money making. Nothing more. Thjey are addicted to it (borough councils).
