Here's a nice easy Friday afternoon problemette for all you IT experts as you wind down for the weekend.

I now have a replacement HD for my dead computer. I now also a Windows 98 CD (thanks pies) and Win 98 boot up floppy. What I don't have however is much of an idea as to how to format the replacement HD and then install Windows so I can get the damn thing working again.

Really must learn more about these computer things...

www.bootdisk.com/ is a useful link to keep for this sort of thing.

Theres a link to www.netpathway.com/~kramer/reinstall.html for 95/98 installation.

I can't remember whether the Windows 98 CD is bootable. If not you should be able to boot up from the floppy and run setup from the CD, although you will need the CD driver (MSCDEX).

Once you've got setup running, it should format the drive for you if required.

98 CD should be bootable if copied off an original.

If its not insert the boot floppy and get a dos prompt.

Fdisk c:

When thats finished

Format C:

and then install windows.
