Hmm, not sure I love them to be honest but they're on now. A bit too 'race car'.

Also put a new air filter in today. Old one looked fine but nice to know it's fresh. Just a Bosch one mind, I'm not convinced by 'performance' panel filters.
Agree; not a fan personally... They stick out a bit too much... What about some standard black wheel nuts; can you get them?

And agree; OEM spec panel filters are all that's needed. The likes of K&N, Green Cotton, ITG etc really don't do much at all bar give a bit more intake noise, if you're lucky etc...

Different if you went for a full blown CAI etc - but generally the OEM intake box is the best design to stick with...

I spent so much on intakes over the years on my CRXs, EG6, Prelude, ATE, EK9 etc and always went back to the OEM intake in the end

Your nuts are showing... hehe

They do sit quite proud on the OEM wheels .I've got aftermarket ones but the centre bore of the wheels on my car have deep nut recesses so means they sit fairly flush,so I know what you mean there.

A full longarm CAI like the Injen on my car is certainly a breathing improvement, especially if exhaust changes are done and the car goes for mapping,a standard setup would prove a bit restrictive. But if thats not the long term intention then yeah with the standard airbox a decent quality filter will do fine.Certainly better than a short ram pipe with a performance filter that isnt enclosed properly that you do see a lot of.You get nicer induction noise with those but no actual gain, all it does is suck more hot air in from the underbonnet temps which is the opposite to what you want, its better to keep the factory airbox than do that.
If anything the car wont perform as it would normally,I know plenty of people over the years that have reverted back to OEM . The filter has to be protected from temperatures,it gets bloody hot under there. The only way to do it is to enclose the filter or route the intake pipe away from the engine bay.

There were some closed-end back ones available yeah, think both the Mugen and Ray's ones were like that, which I was also looking at. I'm sure I'll get used to them.

Also just realised I don't believe I answered your last email, very sorry about that and the offer was very much appreciated.

Agreed on the CAI, trouble is you're looking at around £800 (as I'm sure you well know). That's the kind of thing you want the previous owner to have done.

I used to use K&N filters in my Swift Sport and I had a RamAir induction system on my MX5 and I didn't notice a difference with either, not even in the sound (to my ears, anyway). The filters were maybe double the price of a standard one back then it seemed, now it's more like four times.

Haha no worries pal;

I fitted something similar to these Spoon wheel nuts on my Prelude that I'd fitted with 17" Buddyclub wheels...

https://www.tegiwaimports.com/spoon-sports-lightwe...

Could have sworn they were Buddyclub wheel nuts as well. They had a much deeper recess though; so they sat better

Terrible picture I know; have so few left since Photobucket went tits up

Lovely. Can't remember the last time I saw a Prelude.

Talking of EK9s, did you see the one on the PH auctions went for £9.5k!!? Someone has got an absolute steal there.

Cheers - It was a superb car made better by adding the ATR cams; 300mm brake upgrade from the ATR , lightened flywheel and D2 coilovers, fitted and set up properly (oh and the Apexi WS2 exhaust and AEM V2 intake) biggrin - I went to town on that car and then sold it laugh

Re the EK9: I did and TBH IMO it was bang on the money; high'ish miles and you just know it'll be fizzing in the rain like they all do... The ones at £15k plus need to be a very low mile fresh JDM import; the ones at £20k plus are just piss-takes IMO

Fantastic car made better by some suspension tweaks and stickier tyres (and a visit to Grinspeed) wink

I had a 5th Gen Lude as well, same cour, Motegi kit (and mine had the sexy bonnet spoiler too!) great car, terrible on fuel and tiny inside!

The EK9 was quite good value. I should have bought one 10 years ago when they were like £5k but it’s easy to say that about everything!!

Ah yeah I remember seeing that bonnet spoiler on a Phoenix Yellow BB6 JDM import version; fantastic colour that as well...

I've never worried about economy as I don't travel far really as have worked from home since late 2008 now; but a heavy foot and you were soon through a tank of VPower biggrin

I thought they were roomy enough up front (I'm not small); but there was no chance of getting anyone in the rear!

I sold that Lude and went into a Pirates Black ATR which I only owned for a few months; it appeared on eBay a month or so back for c£5k laugh

Rear discs and pads (Yellowstuff) fitted over the weekend, as well as it's first proper wash since.... August. Don't judge. Celebrated with a trip to the beach.

Couple of small changes over the weekend. Swapped all the interior lights out for LEDs and it's made a massive difference, the halogens really did age the car more than I realised. I'll get some photos tonight.

Also got a new battery tie down as the old one was flaking, bit rusty and just generally looked untidy. I got a red aluminium one off eBay which nicely matches the red rocker cover. Engine bay could really do with a clean but I don't really know what I'm doing in that regard.

Just spending a few quid here and there to keep me interested as the big jobs I want to do (wheels, bushes, remap, brakes) ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Interior LEDs make a huge difference.

Black nuts...keep an eye out for a second hand set of black OE S2000 nuts, they pop up from time to time.

So that's just over a year and about 7000 miles with the Accord now. Has been flawless the last few months and after just giving it a proper good clean, including wet vac and bringing some of the older rubber trim bits back to life, it's reminded me that it's about as mint as a daily could be.

The rear Euro R badge is damaged/starting to come loose, so I've ordered a new one of them, but that's about it really.

I'll try and get some photos of it looking glorious tonight if we get a good sunset.

Thanks both.

I'll make it easy for you d_a_n1979, just buy the white Legacy STi that TGT have got in. I'd be tempted myself if we were a year or two in the future.

Yeah; not for me pal. It needs to be a manual that car as well IMO...

If I was ever going to go down the JDM route again it'd be an NA Honda (Euro R like yours etc) or I'd stick with a BMW and go E46 or E90 straight 6 manual
