Pairs Matchplay last night (betterball) in glorious conditions, 20c and very little wind.

We were giving away 8 and 13 shots. We both played pretty well and dovetailed nicely to win the match 4&3.
I only have the singles scratch Matchplay round 1 left to play now which is nice, playing a chap off 3 so I'll get 1 shot - should be a good game..
Great win and one thing I am deeply jealous of - shots in a scratch matchplay. At our place it's flat, no shots at all....

First round of the main Club knock out tomorrow night....... I only have to give 28 shots biglaugh
Ouch! Never fun giving that many away - especially when it gets to 2 shots a hole!
I'm a moron, it is a Scratch Matchplay so no shots!
My partner and I have the Yorkshire Foursomes next Friday, that should be good and the neutral venues are always decent. Foursomes is such a tough format to play..
Feels like I'm just updating my results on here, sorry if it gets a little dull.

Final Club round 1 Matchplay last night, Scratch comp playing a member off 2.5.
I was 4 up after 9 after shooting a +1 gross F9, but then he birdied 10 and I 3 stabbed #11 from miles away to get to 2-up..

I lost #17 to get to only being 1-up. The last hole is a par 5 and luckily I managed to get up&down from 50y for a par which was just about good enough. hehe

76 gross in the end and just scraped past into Round 2. Could've done with an earlier finish as I had a 220 mile drive to complete after the match.

Haha not in the slightest - good to see them being used and about as clean as mine! They were the one set of Nike Blades I never got to experience other than the odd shots with me mate's set, seemed just as good as the other two though.

I like the two Drivers as well - what's the thinking behind that?
Driving is a big part of my game, if my drives are off on a day it can ruin a round as my touch round the green is not as good as it should be!
They seem to work side by side, if one is going awry one day then the other seems to work.
It may just be in my mind, but I suppose a lot of golf is!
I play off 11 but only get out 3 or 4 times a year, looking to get more game time but I run a Cricket club as well so my time in the summer is limited to the amount of passes I get from the missus!

First time on a course this year and first ever hole in one.

Only one witness and I thought it went through the green, what an anti climax. biggrin

That eagle on the 1st just made me laugh. World No1, 9 under posted and you just step up and hole your approach. Unreal.

Xander playing incredible golf at the minute. Sensational round again today.

I did 2 bets....Rory and Scottie. Pretty boring being the 2 at the top of the betting but took the punt. Think Brooks looks well poised too with that opening round. Rory didn't play that good today. Normally you think he's leaving shots out in the course but I think today was the opposite, scoring better than his overall play. He'll need to tidy up a little bit.

Well done to McIntyre. Would love to see him continue that over the next few days.

It's a shame there is gonna be more rain coming. A bit firmer makes the birdies really hard to earn.

Well done.

I thought I’d lost the ball about 40 yards right of the green when I got my first hole in one. It must have hit something and ricocheted into the hole.

Xander has one of the top 5 swings on tour incredible that he has two of the four 62’s in majors.. hardly ever wins though.

Agreed!!

And this was the only 62 on a Par 71, all the other 3 where on Par 70s!! So really its the lowest to par round in a major

Was really disappointed in Rahm yesterday, he couldn't get it together and it was showing

Good comeback from him though on the back nine. He's clearly lost his form. Wish all the usual suspects in the media would just leave it at that though.

Cheers all.

Wasn't even blind, just the sun making it difficult but would have been nice to see it drop.

Still nice to get one under your belt! After 35 years I'm still waiting for mine, assuming we don't count simulators or TopTracer.

I was about a foot away from doing a Happy Gilmore and getting one on a Par 4, but that's about it.

Sad and chaotic scenes at Valhalla this morning:

Play at the 106th PGA Championship is delayed by 1 hour and 20 minutes after a tragic and surreal start to the day that saw world No 1 Scottie Scheffler detained in handcuffs by police.
According to police, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a bus close to the entrance to Valhalla Golf Club eight miles outside Louisville. This led to long traffic delays in both directions and with players anxious to get to the course, several (including Will Zalatoris and Cameron Young) abandoned courtesy cars and walked the last mile to the course in the rain.

Scheffler was detained by local police and led away in handcuffs by Louisville police after a traffic misunderstanding, ESPN reported.

The Masters champion reportedly attempted to drive past a police officer to enter the grounds, which led to his detention.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, Scheffler was “detained by police in handcuffs after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club.”

Darlington added, “The police officer attempted to attach himself to Scheffler’s car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla.

The police officer then began to scream at Scheffler to get out of the car.

“When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer shoved Scheffler against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs,” Darlington reportedd. "He is now being detained in the back of a police car.”

According to Darlington, the police officer did not seem to know it was Scheffler and also told him, “There’s nothing you can do. He’s going to jail.”
