Petrol motorcycle sales banned from 2040

At the risk of sounding out of the loop, I'm not quite understanding what's going on here. Presumably this is linked to the "climate emergency" that every politician is declaring recently. If so, could PH enlighten me on what the nature of said emergency, where I can see evidence of it with my own eyes, and what effect banning petrol motorbikes in the UK will have on it? None of the articles I've Googled about this subject explain the above. Thanks.
Do you only believe in things that you can see? So you don’t accept the germ theory of diseases, the existence of viruses or atoms, the existence of radioactivity or how conception works? If you want to be completely dismissive of vast swathes of science then there’s not much point in anyone trying to explain it here either.
Do you think that the sun orbits the Earth?
Hmmm, from a personal point of view i don't have a problem with it. On the proviso that over the next 15 years technology advances to allow the same performance and range that ICE bikes currently have.
Don't get me wrong I love the sound of an old parralel twin, a screaming IL4 or a potato potato. A big V8 can be symphonic. But that's not the reason I ride a bike. I ride it cos it's just me, a few feet from the road.
There will be plenty of ice bikes on the road still by 2040 for those that still want them.
But, eventually, they are gonna be like steam traction engines. Glorious to look at, a great hobby for the tinkerists, seriously glad they still exist, but a tad impractical on the road.

All a bit depressing in a way, I would probably retired from riding by 2040 anyway. I actually think the tipping point of fuel availability will be much more of a driver than the production ban. You are already seeing garage sites aiming far more towards charging forecourts and can see this accelerating as EV take up grows, so there will come a time when the availability of petrol or diesel drops off a cliff and personally think it will be pre 2040 making using any ICE vehicle problematic. Which all in all is what the various governments want.
As another poster said I also do not think that motorcycles fit in with the whole zero risk road system or indeed fully compatible with automatous vehicles so I actually think the powers that be wouldn't give a fig about them disappearing completely.

The other stuff I already know and understand, thanks anyway.

No, seriously, please can you explain what a "climate emergency" actually is?
It's not a difficult term to understand. https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/evidence/SteveKTMer said:

The three (supermarket) forecourts I use most often have about 36 pumps and not a single charging point between them. Where are you "already seeing garage sites aiming far more towards charging forecourts"?As another poster said I also do not think that motorcycles fit in with the whole zero risk road system or indeed fully compatible with automatous vehicles so I actually think the powers that be wouldn't give a fig about them disappearing completely.

London, best mate is involved in the Shell roll out of upgrades. They are cutting the amount of pumps, deleting automated car washes and increasing retail spaces. The changes pivot towards high speed charging, Esso doing similar.modellista said:

How many bike will be made in the next 16 years if they are banned in 2040. A few I bet. Even if your young no need to worry plenty of good secondhand bikes for sale. My bike is lucky to get 35mpg, my old blade would do 50mpg at 80.
Sorry just doing my best not to be concerned with the Zero net ballSh1p

There is no replacing the big diesel engines in lorries with batteries anytime soon, and thankfully so.at least people might still be able to purchase food from the supermarket for a while yet.
I think Visordown came to the same conclusion...nothing to worry about, 2040 is a long way off
