Which console is right for me
Discussion
The ps3 is the best!, pay the extra! Better graphics , better games , you can add a bigger hardrive. Plus GRAN TURISMO, Little Big planet (if you like that sort of thing) Motorstorm 1 & 2, Dirt!. And the xbox 360 is ALWAYS breaking (Ring of doom)
hope this helps!

Good idea for thread, I'll drop them a message on Website Feedback for sticky request.
The only bit I'd change from your list is the £40per year LIVE subscription... Don't see it as much of a drawback personally as that is what you will pay for just a single game nowadays!
Yeah but the PS3 I've heard from many people who own them is laggy and crap online compared to the 360.The only bit I'd change from your list is the £40per year LIVE subscription... Don't see it as much of a drawback personally as that is what you will pay for just a single game nowadays!

Not anymore. There has been a repair service operating for a long time now for RROD completely free and not limited to 2-3 years, in most cases they send you a brand new box. So that parts BS, and there isn't that much difference in graphics!hope this helps!

I thought this thread was just going to highlight the best and worst aspects of each console? And here we have some bullst artist with all the usual bks.
I'm not even going to enter into debate with this absolute infantile.
I also have all three, the wii is a niche product and it's a different market to the over two, to me, it's a bit of fun, its not for serious gamers as my view is the controllers are clumsy and inaccurate!, though if youve got mates round mario kart is great fun, but with the num chuck not that stupid motion sensor thing!
X-box 360 - I own two of these so that when ones off for repair i still have the other one, thats how ste the build quality is!
but theyre cheap, and work really well online!
but they dont come with wi fi built in then they have the cheek to charge £60 for it, though a lot get round this via internet connection sharing from a nearby pc then an ethernet cable!
if you wanna play online though, its the console for you, xbox live is worth every penny, and the premium model upwards comes with a headset, though i upgraded to a wireless one, again £35 which is overpriced
the other great thing is the controller which is so comfy!
PS3 is beautifully built and feels like a quality piece of kit,
the blu ray player is brilliant and future proof due to software updates coming off the ps3's built in wi fi connection, and the DVD up scaling is fantastic, one of the best available and essential if you have a 1080p tv.
controllers have built in batteries, but theyre rubbish to use!!
why didnt sony create a new controller? really annoys me the old ps2 shape is dated!
wireless headset is only £15 though and the online gaming is free!
all in all, i would say
if you mainly wanna play online get a xbox 360
if not buy a ps3
to me the best console is the ps3
but the one i would keep if i had to dump two is the xbox

I don't have all three - I only have a 360 and a Wii, I bought the Wii for more of a laugh and it fills that role beautifully, it's worth pointing out however that its not all drunken social fun, there are some real gems out there for it - Zelda: Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy are both fantastic gaming experiences for example.
The 360 is my "serious" gaming machine, love the controller, loving some of the exclusives (Halo 3, Gears of War 1&2, Left 4 Dead, Forza 2), paying for Live kinda sucks but there is no doubt that you get your money's worth - easily the best online experience of all three IMO
I can't see myself buying a PS3 to be honest - not that there is anything wrong with it per se just that it doesn't offer me anything I consider worth forking out another £300 for. Most of the good games are on the 360 as well and the only exclusives they have that interest me are Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo - and to be honest I found GT4 to be dissappointing, GT5 isnt exactly imminent and Forza 2 has pretty much filled that GT-shaped whole in my life. Blu-Ray is nice and all but given my housemate already has a high-end BD player that is kind of annulled for me, can see how it would appeal to others though.

Looking back at this thread has made me realise the answer to the question:
How many PS3 fanboys can you fit into a single thread?

another pro for the 360, which is the main thing i use it for. It's a media extender. so i have an external hard drive on my PC with 400gb of films including latest releases that i "obtained". my xbox is wirelessy linked to my PC, so i can just stream all of them straight onto my TV without having to burn them to DVD etc. Awesome feature.
also i agree with what others have said. If you play online alot, which i do, then get the 360. Xbox live is awesome. PS3 online is not as good an experience by a mile! xbox party mode is quality.

Id never pay to play games online, seems a bit of a con when pc online gamings been free since online gaming began !
Unless you've experienced the ease of use and great way that it connects together then it's all too easy to wheel out the 'con' response. The fact is that at circa £3 a month it's not going to break the bank.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
