Yes as I did it recently but have to wait for your current month to expire once you have cancelled it. I had to pay 10.99 though to upgrade but still meant 3 years for around £86!Just extended my GPU till aug 2024 using the Turkish codes from this place https://www.gamivo.com/

Long story short but on Christmas Day I will be taking possession of my sons Series S as I've got him a Series X for Christmas, this will be my first ever Xbox so I don't currently have an account to purchase GPU.
So can I set all this up on my laptop in advance so that when I snatch his Series S from him on Christmas Day I will already have an Xbox account, username and done this Gold/GPU thing?
Long story short but on Christmas Day I will be taking possession of my sons Series S as I've got him a Series X for Christmas, this will be my first ever Xbox so I don't currently have an account to purchase GPU.
So can I set all this up on my laptop in advance so that when I snatch his Series S from him on Christmas Day I will already have an Xbox account, username and done this Gold/GPU thing?

You can set it up beforehand as GPU works for pc games as well. Actually I've just realised I do have a Microsoft account, but never had an Xbox linked to it. or ever created an Xbox profile, but it is prompting me to do so.Not having my Xbox yet, I guess on my laptop I'd just need to create my Xbox profile, get 3 x years Gold from cdkeys, go to Xbox Store and redeem the Gold codes and then click on the £1 GPU offer?
Also, does an Xbox account have to link to a Microsoft account, or would creating an Xbox account automatically create an MS account too?
I've done that process before on my sons Xbox for him, but wasn't sure if I could do it for myself on my laptop in advance of getting my Xbox.

That’s great thanks. I wasn’t sure if it would work again as I already did this at the start, loaded up on gold and converted it then, but that’s now ran out. Didn’t realise it would convert it again. Having done the GPU £1 convention last year for my lad, I’ve now got myself a series Xbox and I’ve just done it again for myself using 3 years of EU Gold membership from cdkeys.
I was going to use a VPN and save £24 on the Gold by buying Brazil Gold (Turkey was out of stock) but I would have chosen ipVanish as I've used them before. They offer a 30 day refund if buying an annual policy, and I see you can cancel in 30 days for full refund but for new customers only, however by being a previous customer they could link me to my previous account by my bank card details, so I didn't bother taking the chance.
Would be nice to have saved a further £34 but not at the risk of it ending up costing me more, plus using the EU Gold and the £1 offer is still a great price.
