Dolomite Sprint, the humble Dolly Sprint. My dad had one before I was born, probably ome of the most unreliable cars I think he ever had.

To mind it's just cooler than the majority of the hot Escorts, and Viva's, which just had engines from their bigger brothers dumped in them. Dolly's have a 16v engine, in the mid 70s. Far out man. Not content with that, alloy wheels. Ohhhh yeahhhhh.

I mean, obviously, they dropped the ball a bit (lot), it wasn't particularly reliable and despite their alliances with fuel injection since the the mid 60s, they weren't quite brave enough to go all out on the valver in the Dolly, for shame. Also, the interior whilst quite plush (for the time) didn't really reflect the sporting attributes of the looks and the power plant.

All issues that can be resolved thanks to modern tech and I would if I had one and some spare cash to play with.

For the notional budget, I’d be torn between a Lotus Esprit (not one of the awful Peter Stevens ones), an Alfa Montreal or a Citroen SM.

Would probably go for an SM and regret it when the bills starting coming in!

Agree. Also this, including the wheels and what’s under the bonnet.

Nice but I’d lose the rear spoiler if it was mine

He'll keep it — he runs a mobile ironing service.

Can’t decide on decade, so it’s a toss up between Porsche 356 B, a Frogeye, A 911T, or a Delorean (one car from each decade 50’s-80’s)

All under 100k currently.

Ok, think the 356 wins!

Strada Abarth without a doubt.
Great shout. I’d also like a 131 Sport, 131 1600cc Supermirafiori l, Fiat 132 2000 or MK4/5 Cortina 2.3 Ghia / S.

However, even if you could find a decent one, they are out of my price range.

This or perhaps an SM. Do it hydropneumatically.

Preferably do it decapotably…

I would, but you won't get one for £100k unless it's a conversion.

I'd love a road version of any one of the Group B rally cars but all are way over budget. Next in line would be a Renault 5 Turbo 1 .....could one be bought under 100K?

Morning smile

Me too, albeit i had one back in the mid 80's, great fun car to drive, superb handling and ride, but a poor engine. Ideally fitted with a modern say Audi 4 pot turbo with various boost setting up to 400 bhp. Painted in scooby blue, dull gold minilites and tan leather interior.

Or, a 2.8 RSR replica with around a 400 bhp air cooled motor, white with blue Carrera stripes.

Its nice to dream wink
