Traveling up Friday. Staying at the Holiday Inn next door and travelling back Monday.

I'm with the IPMS Farnborough contingent.

Yes, setting up Friday then coming home Monday. No holiday inn for us this year as was fully booked. Hopefully pop in there for a beer on Friday night, will come and say hi Eric.

Look forward to that. The social side of the show is what makes it for me.

We’re usually at the Rutland table for the weekend, this year’s plans have been spannered by a very short notice German exchange for my lad…so hotel cancelled and will have a couple of extra kids in tow but just for the Saturday... hopefully… if they really don’t fancy it then it might be a dash up on Sunday which would be a shame as he has some bits for the competition.

Bit gutted as it’s always fun to have a boys weekend away, but there will always be next year…thank goodness I didn’t pay in advance for the hotel.

Nice to see Airfix back having cancelled all brand representation at shows last year. Black to three halls again too.

Having the competition area on the ground floor is a good idea.

I just need to remember to pick my order up from Wonderland.

Very glad the make and paint is on for my guests, who are thankfully up for going on Saturday clap

Going to be an expensive visit looking at the retailers biggrin I suspect I’ll be waddling back to my car under a small mountain of books and kits…

Had a great day and a half at Scale Model World this weekend (and half a day at Cosford museum).

Competition was great, I was interested in the 1:72 aircraft:

Fair enough for all those, and congratulations to the winners, but I have to say that some of the decisions in other classes were un-fathomable to me. In the F1 car section there were some stunning Ferraris (MFH kits I think), and others like this one:

..yet, unless I mis-interpreted the result card positions (possible!), this Tamiya Honda won:

To my eyes the two are on completely different levels.

Model of the show was a large scale scratch built two wheeled tank thing. Didn’t look too complex to me compared with some others, but there you go…

Thanks for posting.

I don’t normally critique other modellers, but that Honda is a shocker. Not at all sure how it could be judged better than the Ferrari. There must be a reason.

Could be the cards got mixed up, or I mis-interpreted which car had won, but that's the way it looked to me. I built one years ago and it's a very nice kit - no excuses on that front, and in any case, for me they should be primarily judged on finished quality, not how good or bad the base kit is. If it's right, then there will be some very disappointed car modellers making their way home tonight.

I have one in the stash. Seeing that made me immediately consider sticking it on eBay.

I definitely wouldn’t - it’s a nice kit, and with a few additional bits like brake and fuel lines, and perhaps metal inlet trumpets and some Top Studio bolts etc, it would look brilliant with very little effort.

I had a great weekend, really nice positive atmosphere. Good to be back after being away for two years. Be interesting to see if I’ve caught anything after to talking to so many people though!

Didn’t get a chance to look round hall 3 and the competition entries which was a shame but was super busy both days.

Shame Revell, Eduard and many of the smaller European traders couldn’t make it though :-(

Loved this Mulberry Harbour diorama

Cheeky Lego Easter egg on the sports car SIG :-)
