Expensive, tasteful though, and top end apparently. Hats are priced nicely in comparison to everything else.
As someone who was quite partial to a Nike TW Range shirt, I'd say it was very whelming. I quite like the bucket hat but the rest all looks a bit dull if I'm honest - especially considering the price. Probably a good job it doesn't seem to be available in the UK, as you know the usual 1GBP to 1USD exchange rate would apply...Thoughts on Tiger's clothing line?

I've seen a fair bit of hate for the apparent boring designs, but when you look closely at the different fabrics and textures then I think it all looks fantastic. Nice to see a bit of variation from the usual shiny polyester offerings from most brands. Thoughts on Tiger's clothing line?

Doubt I'd ever buy any of it at full price, but it's in line with the pricing you seen from other 'premium' brands like Ralph Lauren. Show me a decent Black Friday discount later in the year and I could see myself snapping up a few bits.
The logo is beyond awful for the Sun Day Red stuff I reckon. Too spenny for me anyway!
Had an interesting experiment at the range the other day, came away with a couple of early conclusions.
1. There didn’t seem to be much actual difference in distance in a bad hit with any of the clubs. The difference was that with the blade it just FELT much worse, so much more feedback.
Caveat to that, a bad hit with any of my irons is really bad, with a 7i it’s 110-115 yards or so, when the normal distance is 140-145y. I saw a pretty similar distance with the blade on a bad hit, it just felt borderline painful.
2. Shaft weight was a far bigger factor. The blade is 115g, the forged players iron is 95g and the game improvement (my normal iron) is 55g. The 115g felt cumbersome and really hard to move smoothly, although I wonder is it worth working on this. I know why, it’s because I’m rushing it and you just can’t do that as easily with a shaft that heavy. The 55g in comparison felt easy to manipulate mid swing, but maybe that’s not a good habit to get into. The 95g was a sweet spot. I’m not including shaft flex as there’s such variance between shaft manufacturers I don’t know how relevant it was
I’m actually really liking the D9 forged, which is a surprise, they were just a cheap set to enable me to have a half bag in the car at all times. I might make them my main clubs.
I’d like to do more looking into shaft weight effect and whether something like a tour weight shaft can be used for training a smoother swing. I think these clubs are all a similar swing weight, around D1 I believe, so it’s not that.

Great stuff Alex! Your D9s are a much better club than the cobras, I would definitely play them out of the three, although the blade is bloody gorgeous looking.Had an interesting experiment at the range the other day, came away with a couple of early conclusions.

My shafts are 130g, I'm so used to them now, but I see the trend is for lighter nowadays, Hannah Holden has just switched to 80g, from I think, 120g, huge difference.

Aha, that makes sense then. Wonder if someone trademarked it with a view to trying to cash in at some point? I've never seen or heard of "Sunday Red" golf gear anywhere.
Feel a bit for Tiger here, stty trademark behaviour has forced him to go the way he has. Taylormade own Sunday Red now, having bought it of some cynical sod I assume. It's way out of my price point, apart from the hat! £40 is acceptable for a nice hat.

Good to hear the results of your experiment - you're bang on about blades, they tend to leave you in no doubt whatsoever whether it was a good strike or not. Catch one thin on a cold day and you'll feel it for a couple of hours afterwards. They feel great out the middle though, which is one thing that keeps me practicing...
Although interestingly not the most painful clubs I've caught thin - that was a copped Ping Eye 2 4 iron, which i can still just about feel
Shaft weight is a very personal thing ime - heavier shafts are good for keeping tempo, lighter ones are typically easier to swing and can see more distance depending on the swing. I went heavy (S400s, which are 132g iirc) to keep things smooth and help me feel where the club head is during the swing, however the state of my elbow after a range session makes me think I could eventually be going lighter.

Ahhh, but I've seen your swing Duncan, it's gorgeously smooth. I'm wondering if that might be a benefit to training with a heavier shaft, it forces a much smoother swing and better temp control. My shafts are 130g, I'm so used to them now, but I see the trend is for lighter nowadays, Hannah Holden has just switched to 80g, from I think, 120g, huge difference.
It would make logical sense to me that it would be harder to create a smooth swing with a very light club due to lack of consequence and feel when attempting to adjust mid swing. That might not be reality, however.

Tell me about it. I got one out the middle and I wouldn't even say it felt like butter, it felt like air, like I hadn't hit anything at all. Just a lovely piercing ball flight and 150 yards, which is even more impressive seeing as they're several degrees less lofted than the D9s and Cobras.bodhi said:

So this is my idea, to train swing smoothness and tempo with a heavier shaft, as it provides more feedback. I think going to a lighter shaft after many years in heavy ones will add a fair bit of speed and your swing is so practiced I doubt it would deteriorate at all!leglessAlex said:

I'd definitely experiment with lighter for my next set, as Ray mentions, even 10g makes a big difference.
I do struggle with my 22° hybrid due to shaft weight, it can definitely get away from me, and took time to learn.
I like the Tiger stuff, way too pricey, but tasteful. Maybe the hat as a Birthday/Xmas present!

Love seeing people splash out on golf stuff, but crikey, that's a beastly looking thing!
Best putting advice is Bob Rotella - Putting out of your mind.
For the first time on here Duncan I'm going to disagree with you! Not on the look of the putter which I agree is hideous but on the Rotella book which I felt was a waste of money, more a list of anecdotes wrapped around one piece of advice – line up the target, take aim and hit it. Maybe I should have looked harder for some deeper meaning, I dunno. Best putting advice is Bob Rotella - Putting out of your mind.
Anyway, I'm hoping/expecting that the LAB will correct my random takeback. Putting is a black art at the club I'm playing at now (lightning fast greens with lots of borrows) so let's see if it works. If it doesn't I don't expect I'll have much bother unloading it but I'm going to give it a very fair shake. It should be arriving tomorrow.

Regarding the Lab putters, I consider them beautifully made, and very interesting, but the model you have chosen is just a bit big for me, I meant beastly as in big. Tech looks great though, they will catch on for sure.
Regarding Rotella, I am incredibly relaxed over putts, being a cocky douche, I am a good putter, despite no practice. This is all due to my expectations, I hole a nice amount, but more importantly, I typically give myself short 2nd putts.
To get into the right mindset, you have to be way more focused on pace, which will absolutely kill you if you get it wrong, rather than line, which even the most casual of glances on most greens, will get you in the right direction. @GolfSidekick talks about this, he is a brilliant putter, he knows

I recently switched from a 130g S300 to a lighter 105g stiff shaft. Got to say, dispersions improved but that could be the more forgiving head & recent lessons to getting back to hitting a fade from a draw. Biggest thing I’ve noticed is lack of fatigue by the end of the round & how high I can launch the ball now. Averaging around 48/50 descent angle with a 7 which I’m told is much better than the 35 I was stuck at .
Got to say, I really favour FJ tops, not overly expensive & seem to be a good fit.
If anyone wants an easy watch Peter Finch has just uploaded a match with Padraig Harrington, his insight into the game is fascinatingly simple, really enjoyed it!
