Peter Sutcliffe that lives next door - was it something in his script? I was only half listening at that point.
Shipman and West.
Oh yes - never thought about those two as well.

Dawn Sutcliffe - still as hot and crazy as ever cloud9

Love the way all the negative stuff on here is from people who don’t actually like Gavin and Stacey. I hate Eastenders so guess what, I don’t watch it !

It was okay ,had never watched any previous GnS before.

I noticed the 3 serial killers surnames ,I find that a little weird.

I also knew there'd be complaints about the song lyrics from the perma offended who just live to complain about

something or everything.

I think that's the thing about G&S. From the very start there are the 'running jokes' like the serial-killer names, the Dawn and Pete domestics, the references to 'what happened on the fishing trip', Gwen's continuous supply of omelettes and Nessa's anecdotes and references to her associations with various famous people. If you haven't watched it from the start these things will just fly over your head and won't appear funny.

I can imagine just watching last night's 'special' as a stand-alone would not be very funny but knowing the back-stories I thought it was pretty good. Interesting to hear today that the young lad who played Neil (the baby) was in fact one of the original babies who played Neil as a baby. Perhaps he wasn't the best actor but he did look remarkably like he could've been James Corden's offspring.

I enjoyed it. Not as funny as some of the series, but still pretty good.

Didn't think baby Neil was a particular good casting choice though. I know it's just a kid, but he was pretty awful.
That's funny, I thought he was perfect.
I didn't think the show was all that, but was glad it was back on.

I'm not a fan of James Corden particularly, but some of the comments on here seem a bit weird.

Anyway, Stacey's Chebs were fantastic.

Yup. Always thought she was lovely and the Welsh accent helped. But now the boobs also help.

But what about the programme in the title of the thread? Gavin & Tracey?

Highest viewing figures of any Christmas Day tv program over the last decade - they did something right.
TV must have been rubbish then if G&S was the best thing on.

The sooner BBC goes subscription only the better.

I can't watch anything with James Corden in it.

He manes me sick.

I can't watch anything with James Corden in it, otherwise I might have done.

He makes me sick looking at him.

So how do you know if the programme is good or not?

The BBC will always show things that you do like, and things that you dont like, thats just the way it goes.

Amazing how some folk hate that other people don't like the same as them.

We've just watched it.

Yes, I've seen the previous episodes, and there are running gags that you see coming, but it was well written, well acted and funny.

I thought it was great.

Ps. Joanna Page. Tidy.

I've just watched it and it was OK, Thought the writers were trying a little too hard with the ending though (I won't spoil it for anyone). The phrase 'setting it up for a new series' has never been more appropriate.

What I find most amazing is the contrast between how repulsive Nessa is, and how normal Ruth Jones looks in real life.

That is what is known as "acting" wink

Ruth played a superb Hattie Jaques in the film.

I find it quite amusing that there seems to be some officianados on here but yet no-one has mentioned yet that Gwen's Kitchen seems to have been located to the opposite side of the house. In the ooriginal table on right and door to kitchen on left and in this special it seems to have swapped.

Thought it was a good episode, also love the whole Harry, Meghan and Beckham as the names of G & S's kids.
