Garden Tax on the cards?

Excuse me for putting this in the Lounge, but more people will see it if kept here rather than in the politics area.
I was not aware of this, but just told by my mother-in-law (who has far more time than me to listen to the news) that Labour are considering changing the way council tax is managed, by including a factor about how big a house's garden is. I think this must be a seed (excuse the pun) from the Corbyn days, but I gather that is already being used in Wales. It is said that councils will survey properties by drone, so if you have a sizeable garden (and I don't know what that means in real terms) you pay more tax.
There will be people way more aware than I about this on here, and no doubt those who may say "well, those that live in posh houses should pay more", but is this really likely to be a thing in the future, after a general election?

There's been talk about revamping the council tax banding for years, I think even Blair hinted at something, but it always provokes a backlash so quietly gets dropped. The only time it comes up is when the Daily Mail is having a slow news day.
Maybe we can have a hair tax. If you don't have a receding hairline they can add 10% to your TV licence. Why TV licence? Because it's just as random. If you can afford a TV or something... Maybe the TV licence is governed by the size of your TV? Or how about a finger tax. We can have poor people cutting off their fingers to save money. The govt can run a YouTube channel and get ad revenue from people watching peasants cutting off their fingers. Fishi would love that.

So if you have not expanded a house's footprint, and still have good garden space, nothing extra to pay? I suspect that this is more driven by 'value' therefore the land foot print, rather than what is on it? Thing is, that is already taxed at the point of sale.May be those with a bigger garden, more plants/trees and therefore more photosynthesis, can sell oxygen back to the country? A bit like the feedback tariff for energy?

LVT supposedly make you use land more efficiently but I'm not sure what you're supposed to do to make your garden generate income.
We have a reasonably long garden but it's a pain in the arse rather then some sort of benefit that needs to be taxed. It just takes too much maintenance.

It looks like houses across the UK haven't been re-evaluated for council tax since 1991, and they are attempting to do this in Wales. It's no surprise that Tory governments have always shied away from doing so as they know it'll be their well-off core voters who have extended their properties and should be paying a higher band.
I'll personally file this under 'grrr Labour, more taxes', in the misinformation wars in the run up to the General Election...

Nevertheless I anticipate them taxing everything they can see to fund a long campaign of wasteful spending, pretty much as per every labour government in history.I need some way of hiding assets from them.

The government could bring back the 18th century window tax. In the 21st century version you would be taxed on how many windows you have open on your computer at any one time.
