Truck stops and greasy spoons.

if any of you have the misfortune to need to deliver to Penzance Docks with stuff for the Scilly Isles then I can recommend the Harbour Café, it is right on the docks next to the dry dock (on the other side of the road) It has been taken over by new people who a great, food is good, priced well and place is clean.
Park up on the opposite side of the road a bit further down the road next to the big warehouse, it is double lined but you get left alone as it is the only place to pull in to wait to be let on the quayside to unload.

I found the jungle cafe on the a6 near shap a very exiting place when i started driving trucks in the early 60s. My mate used to to say that at the mayfield cafe on the A6 at garstang the sponge puddings was mixed by bare feet in a large tin bath. Salt box on the A50 was a very very good cafe. I always thought the best breakfast to be had where in london at italian cafes.
I read in one of the trade rags that the truck stop at orwell crossing is on its limit of keeping open and a group that runs 11 truck stops is also struggling to keep going , swindon truck stop has revised cafe opening hours and silveys at jct 17 m4 was not open on sat morning .It's getting more and more difficult to find a truck stop especially at the weekends .

Moat Lane Cafe (The Green Hut) on A57 between Woolson and Rixton about a mile from the Thelwall viaduct.
Best spam barm cake in the north west and good breakfasts etc.
I used it for forty years and never had a complaint, well worth pulling off the M6 for in my opinion
That is now 'Sizzle Sisters' still doing ok foodBest spam barm cake in the north west and good breakfasts etc.

Two brand new sites !
Finally a truck stop in Holyhead !
Roadking , the same people who run Hollies in Cannock , just off the main drag into the town at the first roundabout , all new and modern , reasonable prices , great showers , on site security .
They aim to keep it nice , a few have already been banned for unacceptable behaviour.
The Stag cafe , jct 47a A14 west , another new build , good food , plenty of parking , very pleasant staff .
post code IP30 9RT .

Just brilliant! Try to get there a couple of times a month. Generally get a good number of lorries there, which must be a good sign, and it's not unusual for the Met to call in too.
A proper greasy spoon, with A 5 star hygiene rating, and excellent prices (see menu).

A London landmark got destroyed yesterday .
The iconic Blackheath tea hut was struck by a car and ripped apart , several people were injured including two of the staff inside the hut and several customers who were outside .
The structure was ripped open and spun off its mounting.
The services to it were also damaged . The structure was later fully demolished and removed as it was unstable.
The tea hut had been on the site since 1926 and was open 24hrs and only closed on Christmas day .
It is a very busy and popular place , used by bikers , taxi drivers , delivery drivers and those that work irregular hours . It was also favourite of emergency services especially at night . It is somewhere that I have used for over 40 years .
The owner has promised that he will rebuild and return .
Anybody that has used the A2 across Blackheath Common will know the huts at the junction of Goffer Rd .
