Going round a roundabout the wrong way

As far as I know, it is not a statutory offence to go around a roundabout the wrong way although there will be few circumstances where it would not be careless. There is a mini roundabout in Aberystwyth that I usually go to the right hand side of. It controls one side road and when there is no traffic (and no possibility of traffic appearing because there is good visibility) going around the right of the roundabout is almost a straight line from entry to exit point.
