Prior model was 187 hp for Cooper S if memory serves, the 192 hp was the pre LCI cars.
Looks like an Ora Funky Cat, because it is one, developed in conjunction with Ora…
Everyday's a school day, thanks

Mini design peaked at this - anything before or after has been dull in comparison. No other Mini shouts "I'm an ugly fker and I don't give a st".

Sadly, it seems we're never going to see the likes of it again.

Future classic?

Worst looking mini ever.

This is progress ?

Feels like the when the Golf 7.5 became a cheaper built, less resolved Mk 8....

That is not a good looking car plus that screen is huge looks about the size of a dinner plate.

For those of us old enough to remember the 60s / 70’s ladies ‘dresses’ that came in mini, midi and maxi, the original ‘classic Mini was, well, the Mini, the first of the new generation Mini was the ‘midi’ and this abhorration is the ‘maxi’.
Bigger but not in a good way.
Another styling faux pas from the design school of ‘S Wonder & R Charles’, who on earth signs of these things?

I was so looking forward to see the new F66 but what a let down at the front end with no iconic bonnet scoop....and to the rear no visible exhaust so I'm guessing no pops n bangs..

I have to agree with all the other comments, it looks like a cheap base model inside and out.

I had pops and bangs on my 2017 model(and rightly or wrongly they did put a smile on my face). But they weren't on the LCI models from the back end of 2018 because of the OPFs I believe.

I find the lack of twin center exhausts rather disturbing.

Agree, and all it does for me is make me more angry about EVs to be honest, because EVs are the reason why it doesn't have any now. If I could ban EVs altogether...I definitely would! hehe

I prefer the previous model to be honest, particularly as it has a manual box.

Something about this design doesn't sit right to me as its clear its based on the old model due to the doors unlike the EV version.

As others have mentioned, in the same way we've had peak Golf, we've now had peak MINI too from an enthusiasts pov. It looks what it is, a sell out to the Chinese and it's lost all character in the process. No front scoop and central rear exhausts says it all.

Surely that award goes to this doesn't it?

Whether a car is attractive or not is down to personal choice but the Paceman is not only ugly in my eyes but pointless too.

One of my neighbours got a huge discount on a new one as they were really struggling to move them when they were new.

At least the Coupe had a wait list for it when new and probably the best of the lot to drive from my experience.

Because when i look at the New Cooper S, the first thing i see and question is the missing scoop. As owner of many Mini's i know only the R53 made use of it. But it was so important a styling feature to set the cooper S above the other models that Mini kept it for 17years after its usefulness was filled in with solid plastic. But no mention or reference to it at all?
I suspect its all cost saving measures, saves having to manufacturer 2 types of bonnet perhaps. As much i loved the scoop on the supercharged model due to it having a purpose, when they shifted to turbo charged, the scoop was redundant. Though as you point out an identifier that the car was the sporty model.

I'm sad to see the switches / toggles go from the centre console. I loved those.

is that an aquarium on the dashboard?

It is nearly the same size as the steering wheel, surely that is a concept and not realistic, talk about getting distracted on the road!

Positives: At least this one keeps the signature black rubber elements around the arches that have been there since R53 but are sorely missed on the new electric version. And new small, interesting, quick little cars are few and far between these days so that alone is to be applauded.

Negatives: Everything else

Side note: Not for the first time, I'm thinking that it's tax breaks that are propping up the car industry these days. Without them, who on earth is buying/affording the endless parade of eye-wateringly expensive, ugly, electric monsters? And when I say 'tax breaks' I of course mean 'tax payer-funded give-aways'.
