Ah, I see. Simplistically elegant as they are, there were too many twin-leg 5-spokes in Max Power when I was a kid for me to be in love with them. I also didn't know that those that I posted are known as throwing stars. They are now even cooler to me!
But what makes the M parallels cooler is that they are very easy to keep clean
Very nice (apart from the wheels that everyone has mentioned)
But you could do this:

And this:

For £50K Less.
I’m sure it’s wonderful (I have an E39 M5 and it’s close to perfect) but you’d have really want this car.

Im not generally a fan of Manhart's work, but that is lovely. I would love to see a proper review.
As said above though, an actual 850CSI manual is significantly less money, even allowing for some light restomodding.
And the same money would buy a nice 550 Maranello.
Still, I nice dilemma to have!

Take E38 Alpina B12 6.0 engine as basis. Add E36 M3 3.2 four valve heads to it. Insert it and 6 speed from later M3 or M6 into E31. Now this is proper recipe for 850 restomod.
You would need a custom head design for at least one of the cylinder banks. Has been tried before(put a DOHC head on a M70/73 engine) but I'm not sure anyone was determined enough to bring that experiment to fruition. M70/M73 can be tuned to 400+ hp naturally aspirated.
Or, you could try with a N73 and see if that can be shoved inside.
Why not go the whole hog and pop one of these in? McLaren F1 BMW V12, S70/2 with 627bhp.

Wheels look a little daft, but the rest is perfect! Love it.
Couldn't agree more. Wheels ruin what is otherwise perfect!I think It's because 'Restomod'.
Unless someone can tell me a benefit to putting 20's on an 8 series

Remarkable ... in that for once there is a consensus on a PH thread!
Other than the wheels, perfect.
As someone pointed out, BMW take note. "THIS IS THE KIND OF THING THAT THE MARKET WANTS"
Not really. If that was true than the likes of the Z4M, E46 CSL, E61 M5 would have sold a lot more. Other than the wheels, perfect.

A few petrol heads on the internet isn’t the market.

I must be getting old because I think those wheels are too big.
They areIt needs either a set of Style 21s or a set of Style 37s at the most
It'd be a much classier finish with those wheels

I'm just glad someone bought my Z4M so I could have it later.

Looks great but agree about the wheels.
Is there much weight difference between the the V12 and V8? Enough to affect handling?
There isn't... about 30-40 kg. V12 is a simpler engine, no VVT and SOHC head.Is there much weight difference between the the V12 and V8? Enough to affect handling?
I do love this car inside out, looks so cool, ok wheels could be a better choice for, but outside that? there is much want in this one, the goodies, the color, the interior, just a great car and ow, not bad money compared to some other 'restomod' cars, then this is a bargain, ok for most still a lot of money, but compared to some crazy wild other restomod cars, its a relatively bargain.
nice work Manhart.
