Just booked my sons driving test, earliest date was 5 months away in October. Utterly ridiculous.

So which apps have people had success with for getting cancelations? Any tips please?

Another vote for this one. Used for both of my children and threw up tests at the desired test station regularly. Booked one for my daughter for 3 days ahead, much to her shock and then angst as she had one booked months ahead and was nervous about that! Although she then passed first time.

Daughter used Driving test cancellations now, as this auto re-books unlike Testi. Failed 1st time on 5th April and got re test on 20th and passed.

Thanks but that link is for cancelling a test, whereas I want to be able to obtain an earlier test that someone else has cancelled.

Well what. brilliant app this is, thanks for the suggestion.

My sons test was originally booked for October, but I paid for this app (£20) and set my preferred dates within July and August and for them to automatically change the test date if a cancellation came up. Within just a few days they have automatically rebooked my sons test to a date in August.
I've now reset the parameters to try and get one in July which would be even more preferable.

For anyone else wanting to download this app, I suggest going onto their website first and filling in some of the settings, but dont pay initially, they then send you a text/emaill with a 20% discount code to entice you to join up. Well worth the fee.

Also may be worth asking your driving instructor - ours had a heads up on cancellations that were being processed from the 2 or 3 testing stations that were located reasonably nearby so daughter was able to be ready to book an earlier test when they were released (this was in the near immediate aftermath of covid when the test stations were still struggling so may have been a sign of the times and not still the case)

Book a test online
You’ll be put in a queue when you start booking your driving test - you’ll be told how long you’ll need to wait once you begin. This is faster than booking by phone because the phone lines are very busy at the moment.

You can book a test up to 24 weeks in the future. There is no waiting list or cancellation list.
The OP specifically wants to be able to jump at the opportunity if a date frees up quicker than the website offers.

Yes, perhaps you can trawl hopefully through the website, should you be looking when a cancellation comes up - before someone else or one of the app bots snaps it up.

Or you can register and let the app do the hard work and let you know when it’s found one meeting your requirements.

But carry on doing it the hard way by all means.
