Off topic but I was looking at the forums and saw LC500 owners quoting up to 40mpg on a run which is quite frankly astonishing from a 5L V8. I've always wanted an LC500 and always wanted a 997.2 C2S, it's going to be a hard choice between the two when the time comes, hopefully next year.

We've just done almost 3k miles around europe, including some very high speeds on the german autobahn, in a 5L supercharged F Type and averaged j33mpg.

The new 8 / 9 / 10 speed auto gearboxes help efficiency significantly as engine rpm low at 80mph

I'm not sure I've ever seen more than 30 mpg from mine, and I thought that was pretty good.

You don't buy these cars for economy.

My 5.7 Challenger was knocking out 44ish on a run (to be fair it was at a cc-regulated 59mph) so I'm not massively astonished

The people claiming 40mpg might be owners of the other 'LC500', the one with the V6 hybrid.

I was wondering that.

Mr RCF never managed above 25mpg on a steady run. (Same engine, different gearbox)

Under 20mpg around town/country lanes.

40mpg might be optimistic but they're surprisingly not so thirsty on a long run. I do long motorway drives from the south coast up to Cumbria a few times a year to visit family and my RCF always averages 32-33mpg over the 300 miles. The long 8th gear really helps.

The forums I was reading claimed they were in the V8. I suspect very easy motorway driving and with the 10speed auto it must be pretty much just ticking over at a cruise. For reference the posts were on the Lexusownersclub Uk forum
