Small runabout for parent

Mother needs a smallish car for a runabout, lots of short journeys but not much mileage.

I have a budget between 7-10k and would like something 2016+ I am thinking along the lines of:
Fiesta
Polo
Yaris

But would consider something a bit bigger Focus/Golf/Ibiza.

Just needs to be auto and reliable…Pistonheads find me a bargain

I am guessing the Honda Jazz is likely to be the most reliable?
Do dealers actually do any deals for cash? Or is it all about the profit from selling finance, have had company cars for so long, forgot how to buy a car

Roomier than you'd imagine and 6k will get a low miler

Not sure on costs but you could look at and Up/Mii/Citigo, Mazda 2, Yaris, a Ford Ecosport or Vauxhall Crossland might be nicer for higher up seating, Cinch currently have a CX-3 within an easy haggle of 10k as well.

Thats a pity, as electric would suit her journey profile and be cheaper servicing. For a low mileage user the saving on fuel wouldn't be massive, but not having to replace oil, filters, brakes every year would save a packet

The best hybrid Yaris you can afford.

Absolutely bulletproof and very cheap to maintain in the long term with the hybrid system removing many of the common maintenance/fail points of typical ICE cars - no clutch, no complicated autobox or dual clutch nonsense, no starter, no alternator, no timing belts, no turbo, no dual mass flywheel, no particulate filter, 10 year warranty too.

Easy to drive, really economical and hold their value well too.

Should I be concerned that one is an import? Does the warranty apply?

She's probably not into track days so shes unlikely to need to change the brakes every year
