Isn't there some kind of heat shielding preventing hot air from the engine bay is sucked in?

The air intake is a sealed unit connecting to the void in between the rear side quarter and the engine bay just in front of the rear left wheel. I think this void is fed air via the aperture that is behind the small curved glass window behind the passenger door.

The air box draws air from a ‘sealed’ chamber in the wheel arch, in front of the left rear wheel. It has a funnel port intake inside and the chamber is fed air via the aperture on the left rear window. So it can only draw cold air and anything that gets in there must be airborn.

Thanks for the clarification David, out of interest do you know what the vertical pipe running from the intake pipe is for?

Between airbox and turbo you'll have the air pressure recirculation (when you lift off the boost is diverted back into the intake) and oil breather. Later cars add air recirculation for emissions.

Likewise. I had mine fitted today too. Nice to meet you both at Spires today - your car looked fab with the carbon!

Just installed the air filter a couple of days ago and I love it! There’s some additional induction noise (whooshing and hissing etc) but only at larger throttle openings.

The benefit of that is it adds some excitement to Normal mode, but only when you are giving it a squirt - it doesn’t spoil the very civilised feeling you get when just pootling around.

This is a big plus for me as Normal mode can feel a bit sterile, but I don’t necessarily want the pops and bangs of Sport mode all the time.

And it definitely feels like it picks up quicker - the engine feels freer and more eager. Win, win!

Cheers, Dom
