That's no mean achievement to qually for the 500..again. And at 43. Bloody well done.

She’s usually racing GTs in the IMSA series Stateside, but this will be her 4th Indy 500.

It’s hard not to admire those who don’t usually race Indycars, but who turn up in May to try and qualify for the 500. There’s usually 27 runners in Indycar, but 34 cars turned up this weekend. Nolan Siegel was the unlucky guy who failed to qualify for one of the 33 spots on the grid, after a crash yesterday.

After Larson's qualifying he flew to North Carolina to compete in the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway where he finished 4th.

He'll be doing the same on race day, 500 at Indy then the 600 mile race at Charlotte.

Agreed.

The format isn't so easy for the casual viewer in terms of what is happening and when but, give the Americans credit, they definitely know how to do hype.

I'm looking forward to Sunday - truth be told, I enjoy the 500 far more than I do the Monaco GP.

Brilliant American madman, love it!

He certainly won’t want to see a red flag in the 500, that’s for sure, otherwise his best laid plans might fall apart.

The 500 should finish around 3:30 ish, by the time he’s out of his car, a few minutes in a chopper to a private plane that will be waiting for him with the engines running, 90’ or so in the plane, another chopper or perhaps a bike at the other end, and get in the NASCAR ready to go at 6pm. Awfully tight!

For those of you coming here next weekend it's going to be a crazy few days in Indy. The Pacers beat the Knicks last night in game 7 of the Eastern Conference semi final and are now facing the Celtics in the Final. It's the first time in 10 years we've made it to the final.

The first two home games are on Saturday and Monday, either side of the race. The town will be on fire. If you are able to get a ticket for the Saturday game the atmosphere will be incredible at the Gainbridge.

Really depends on the aero package, long green flag runs and when the cautions play out because they're more than happy to sit single file fuel saving for most of the race.

It's only the quarter of the race when things get really interesting.

Can't wait for next Sunday, the girl child is away at the grandparents, myself and Miss Badger are going out for dinner the Saturday night, then Monaco GP, BTCC and Indy 500 on the Sunday with beer and wine!

That sounds like a good sunday's viewing.

Watching the Indy500 live on TV is often edge of the seat stuff, especially towards the end, also just the ever present risk of a horrible accident due to the crazy high speeds - when a car hits the wall suddenly the speed and momentum becomes clear.

If it's the Downtown one there are loads of sports bars all around and they will all be showing it. BWW is a 2 minute walk and that will be rocking for sure.

In what way am I acting like a child?

Scott (and Josef) both cheated. They were excluded for it (and Scott has history of it). The team have suspended some people (though they just moved them to sportscars for a weekend or two). Now they are acting as if they were hard-done by and have "overcome" it by being on pole?

If that's your thing then that's lovely for you, but I'd rather one of the 33 blokes who didn't cheat were on pole personally.

And that is irrelevant. Penske have been sanctioned for their misdemeanor as have their drivers. You are clearly implying that McLaughlin achieved pole by cheating. He didn't. And that's why you need to be more grown up.
