Yeah it's quite nifty isn't it, I might try and find a use for the plastic shell. Maybe a lamp or a planter.

Got my mate in the car now:

Tried to do something about the rear view mirror wobbling all over the place, it's very loose. Tried some black tack but it didn't work, I'll probably just live with it. I also removed the Japanese radar detector off the dash which has left a nice sticky patch which is very persistent.

Couple of proper jobs to do soon, just waiting on parts.

I have sound! Thanks to Speed Of Sound in Barrow-in-Furness, diagnosed the issue in 2 mins and all sorted a week later. Would highly recommend if you're in Cumbria/Lancs:

Also replaced the cabin filter today as I had a feeling that hadn't been done and I was correct. That's not grey filter material by the way, it was white under that clip:

Tomorrow's job (anyone know German?):

Also purchased some Tegiwa 'shock socks' for when the coilovers are on (next week!).

Next jobs to organise are:

- wheel refurb
- contact Grinspeed re. geo, valve clearances and potentially fitting of a Hybrid Racing short shifter.

Let me know when you're across to Stevies and I'll pop up and have a nosey round the car, if that's OK? thumbup

Yeah, absolutely.

In your experience, are they generally booked up for work well in advance? Just thinking if it's worth giving them a call now to get booked in for later down the line.

Yes! Even I have to book in, in advance, cheeky sods... I ply them with biscuits, cake, ale and all sorts laugh

But yeah; they're usually stacked, so call Ste or Don today to get booked in, in a few weeks time etc

Before and after with the £10 headlight kit. Worth the pennies. I missed a bit in the middle, don't know if you can tell on the photo, can always do it again at a later date. Word of warning; it looks a bit like you've fked it up between steps 1 and 2, but you probably haven't.

Booked in for the 19th of June. Very excited.

I have a couple of smaller jobs booked in before then so hopefully after my visit to Grinspeed, the car will be as I want it.

Nice car! Were the speakers a direct fit for the old ones?

Thank you and yes, they were. Alpine E-Series, apparently. The old ones had basically started falling to bits.

Saw a comment on the recent DC5 article on here about Car VX, which is a service that gives you a full history on Japanese imports. Auction sheets, recalls, accident repairs, Fukushima fallout, etc. I paid for it last night and just got it back... clean bill of health! Worth twenty quid for the peace of mind. Also got on the Japan Honda website to check that any recall work has been completed, all good there too!

In for coilovers as we speak, picking up Saturday morning. Should have a short shifter waiting for me when I get home, too!

Also, the translation was obviously done phonetically hehe

Car VX checks are quality! I wouldn't buy a Japanese import without running one of these first. Glad yours was all clear. I almost bought a 'grade R' FD2 a few years back, until I ran the check.

I had a HR shifter in my FD2 and once the novelty of it had worn off, I didn't get on with it unfortunately. I replaced it with a Mugen shifter which I much preferred.

Nice car btw. I'd like one once my finances recover to replace my current fn2. I could do with the extra doors.

Haha, he certainly is. Had him since I was a kid when the adverts were on. There was no room in my MX5 so he's been in a cupboard for a few years.

We'll see how I get on with it, there is a level of adjustability that I can play about with. The stock shifter has got a little (but not loads) of slack in it and although very precise, there's not as much feel as I'd like, especially second to third. In fairness, I have come from an ND MX5 which had a phenomenal shift feel.

And thank you, so far so good. Feels nice to be putting some time and money into a car, thankfully mostly voluntarily.
