However 0.44% of c40Million is over 175,000 cars stolen, which doesn't sound quite so comforting.
Given the number of multi car households then the likelihood of a household experiencing a car theft is much greater. I have no idea what the average ownership per household of those that own cars, could we be looking at 1 in a hundred households experiencing theft. That seems like a lot.

Just my take on tge stats

Sold a car off my drive to a couple of lads from Sheffield not long ago.

Sold my girlfriend's Jazz off her drive to a couple from Rochdale last summer.

Neither were supercars obvs hehe

A better metric would be the type of car and the location. For example, how many Range Rovers are stolen in Bradford? I bet it would be a lot more than 0.44%

Saying “it’s better than the 1990’s” doesn’t make crime acceptable.
