Hi all.

Just wondering what the opinion is from
Those who have experienced both. Any advice on what is the better quality long term prospect between a 2016 older shape Merc E400 coupe or the F36 BMW 440i. 4 series more of a c class and and E class more of a 5 series competitor.

Both holding value well at the moment but will the Merc be a better proposition as a bulletproof machine, or will the B58 engine in the BMW be the more reliable unit over the Merc.

Both units are very reliable, I'm bias as I have an E coupe but ot has to be the E Coupe all the windows drop away making the interior feel a nicer place to be. A contrast interior helps both cars feel a bit better.

The E400 unit is the same engine as the one found in the 43 models.

Have you also considered the 640ii?

Just buy which one you like. At up to 8 year old there will be bills regardless and it’s a bit of a lottery.

I went through the same process a few years ago albeit looking at an e250 and 420d and found the e class to be nicer overall package. As someone mentioned above, I'd be having a look at the 6 series rather than the 4 which was out of my budget when I saw searching.
