looking for advice here too. I just came back from Snowboarding in France and just had an email just now from sixt saying

L'officier du ministère public
The authority informed us that a traffic violation has been committed with the vehicle with the license
number ****** on 30.04.2024 at 12:47 hours.

I was going into Annecy at that point, Its not a mandatory Crit air sticker are i dont believe so will need to wait I guess to see if someone chases me for it, no doubt they will. At the time I think I was in traffic for a while so I cant see it being for speeding.

Any ideas?

  • Updated to say I can see Annecy is a temporary crit air area but how would I know that, surely all hire cars are going to get fined driving through Annecy?

I doubt it will be for Crit Air, it'll be something else you've unwittingly done.

Yep, I agree. Will have to wait and see what turns up in the post.

I'm driving down to Annecy later this month. I'd be interested to know why you received a ticket, if only so I can avoid doing the same! eek

I would expect all cars hired in France to have a Crit 'air sticker. Anyone experienced otherwise?

Well it was speeding after all, in a temporary 80kmh zone. I was fined 45 euros so thats it.

simple and fairly painless in the end.
